Fortnite is unveiling an additional set of quests, and this guide shows players where to investigate the downed black helicopter.

Fortnite has unveiled a new set of challenges for players to complete. Rather than the standard weekly quests the game usually rolls out every Thursday, this latest one is part of what's called the Foreshadowing Quests, and tasks players with investigating a downed black helicopter.

Epic Games' popular free-to-play title is in the last few weeks of its Season 6. The sixth season has introduced some of the most radical changes to the game's meta since the advent of Chapter 2, like weapon crafting, vehicle mods, and animals. Fortnite is now seemingly sprinkling in elements related to the game's larger plot, first with the mysterious appearance of Orelia, and now the aptly named Foreshadowing Quests.

One of Fortnite's first Foreshadowing Quests players will need to complete is to investigate a downed black helicopter. The crashed aircraft isn't near any one particular named location, so players will need to know exactly where to look if they hope to complete this quest as soon as possible. The downed helicopter is located in the south-central region of the island, just northwest of the southernmost Guardian Tower. Once the crash site is found, players will need to tune the vehicle's radio until they get the message that mentions the phrase "India Oscar," in which they will then complete the quest and receive 24,000 XP for their trouble.

While on the surface, this quest may seem like another simple task of interacting with an object once its been found, the helicopter actually seems to hold much greater significance in relation to Fortnite's story arc. As some players may have guessed (and confirmed by quest-giver Farmer Steel) "India Oscar" is military phonetic alphabet for IO, the Imagined Order. Thought to be an evolution of the Ghost and Shadow organizations, IO's logo can be clearly seen on the side of the helicopter. This revelation, along with the other mysterious Foreshadowing Quest of repairing damaged telescopes, most likely indicates that Fortnite is setting the stage for something big, perhaps aliens, to depart from its current "Primal" season.

This isn't the only helicopter Fortnite has had players tend to recently. Last week, the game introduced its Impossible Escape LTM, which had players repairing an escape Choppa. Spawning directly onto the map, players were left to organically band together with other people in an effort to track down four required parts for the downed helicopter. The island is also overrun with a variety of aggressive AI that makes the challenge all the more difficult, although its unclear if the LTM and IO helicopters are in any way connected.

The Foreshadowing Quests are sure to pique the interest of many players, but it isn't the only new content added in the past few days. Steadily building its DC roster, Fortnite has revealed its Deathstroke skin and accompanying Deathstroke Zero Cup, set to take place May 27.

Fortnite is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
