Of the 6 major dimensions in the Mortal Kombat universe, Chaosrealm is one of the least mentioned and explored, however, it is arguably the most interesting setting due to its dynamic and constantly shifting nature. As its name implies, it is the opposite of Orderrealm and the inhabitants of Chaosrealm thrive on randomness and entropy.

Players wishing to learn more about the deeper lore of this long-lived fighting game franchise will be interested in learning what Chaosrealm is all about and how it fits into the vivid Mortal Kombat universe.

7 The (Lack Of) Structure Of Chaosrealm

Unlike every other known realm, this one of chaos has no ruler, government, or true society. This is due to the inhabitants of Chaosrealm believing that any sort of organization robs them of freedom, which they value more than their very lives. As such, there is no city planning or maintained roads, however, even if there were, the natural state of this plane would not allow for such things to stick around very long.

6 Landscape & Terrain

Long ago, it is mentioned that this realm was whole and appeared similar to others, but this all changed when the unnamed God of Chaos tore the plane apart with something that the inhabitants call "The Tempest". This mighty maelstrom fractured the land and caused many large chunks of terrain to remain floating amidst countless levitating rocks and great stone pillars that should not be able to remain upright in their warped state. In addition, The Tempest of the Chaos God wiped the minds of the realm's inhabitants, leaving them with no recollection of a time before the utter discord of their home.

5 Faith & Culture

There is not a great deal that the inhabitants of Chaosrealm, known appropriately as Chaosrealmers, hold sacred, as organizations of all kinds are not welcome here, however, they still put their faith in a couple of things.

First and foremost, Chaosrealmers worship chaos in all its twisted and bizarre facets; the infinite freedom, the lack of accountability, and much less predictable aspects. Furthermore, Chaosrealmers hold water to be very important for its fluid and constantly changing nature, which speaks very deeply to the souls of the entropic residents of this realm.

4 Notable Locations

While most of Chaosrealm are broken landmasses wreathed in thick, pale fog, there are a few noteworthy locations that players have been able to interact with in past games of the franchise. Despite abhorring organization, Chaosrealmers have created quite a few temples scattered randomly all around their world, all of which are dedicated to chaos itself. There is even a huge cemetery that houses a few chaos clerics who are praising the discord of their realm. There is also a sprawling and hectic maze that contains a Pool of Aging, which has the power to force whoever drinks of its waters to progress and change rapidly at the whims of time.

3 Native Race

The only known sentient race that is native to Chaosrealm are the Chaosrealmers themselves. In appearance, they look very much like the humans of Earthrealm, however, they possess visually intense individual characteristics that make each person of this plane unique. The only Chaosrealmer within the Mortal Kombat roster is Havik, and is instantly recognizable due to his extremely maimed face. Not all of his kin are as brutal in appearance but they often sport menacing tattoos and other severe body modifications.

2 Personalities Of Chaosrealmers

As one could expect, Chaosrealmers provide truly insane conversation and have some of the quirkiest dialogue in the franchise. Firstly, they often speak backward, which can be quite confusing to non-residents, and they also hate being asked questions, as they deem such things to be an act of control, which, in turn, they see as oppressive to true freedom.

Contrary to how individuals from other realms react, Chaosrealmers enjoy being attacked and will usually thank their assailant. As a favorite pastime, they also enjoy running around aimlessly as a form of chaotic expression that lacks the confining nature of other pursuits which entail goals and rules.

1 Chaotic Quotes From Chaosrealm Citizens

When speaking directly to a Chaosrealmer in previous games that feature this plane, players will be greeted by the strange and seemingly random dialogue where the audio is played backward. In addition to providing game-related hints and bits of lore, there are some lines that pertain to nothing relevant and only exist for humor. There are even a few that break the fourth wall by referencing real people and places.
