Amazon Prime Video released a trailer for 'The Tomorrow War' that shows soldiers going 30 years into the future to fight alien invaders.

The official trailer for Chris Pratt’s upcoming sci-fi action flick The Tomorrow War has been released by Amazon Prime Video. The three-minute video shows viewers how Pratt steps into the future, fights some alien invaders and still passes witty remarks while sporting a six-pack.

The preview for The Tomorrow War shows a group of time-traveling soldiers arriving on a soccer field, in the middle of a game, and informing the world’s population that they are fighting a war 30 years in the future and that their “enemy is not human.” Pratt, who plays a veteran-turned-teacher named Dan Forester, is among those who are recruited to help them fight this war.

The Tomorrow War trailer goes on to show Pratt’s Forester arriving at a secret facility and getting a machine cuffed to his arm, which is supposed to help him travel between timelines. The troops will have 11 months to win this war, or else “all human beings will be wiped from the face of the Earth." The film should provide fans a lot of action, with the trailer offering ample amounts of gunfire, explosions, and helicopters falling from the sky. In the end, the action-packed trailer also offers viewers a glimpse of the alien invaders that the humans will be fighting.

The Tomorrow War is scheduled for release in early July on Amazon Prime and will see the world fighting a war against the extraterrestrial threat in the year 2051. In order to win against the deadly alien species, they require soldiers and civilians living in the present to travel ahead in time and join the fight. Pratt’s Forester will be seen teaming up with Yvonne Strahovski’s Vicki Winslow, a brilliant scientist, and his estranged father played by J.K. Simmons. They stand together to “rewrite the fate of the planet.”

The Tomorrow War was initially meant to have a theatrical release but faced delays due to the ongoing pandemic. Amazon then stepped in and acquired the distribution rights from Paramount Pictures. The remaining cast of the film includes Betty Gilpin, who will portray the role of Forester’s wife, Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Forester’s daughter Muri, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, Jasmine Mathews, and Keith Powers. The film is directed by Chris McKay, who has previously directed The Lego Batman Movie, from a script written by Zach Dean, who previously wrote the script for another sci-fi action film, 24 Hours to Live.

The aliens in The Tomorrow War are a far cry from those Pratt has encountered in the Guardians of the Galaxy films. However, he seems more than ready for the task of protecting Earth.

The Tomorrow War premieres on Amazon Prime on July 2, 2021.
