Yesterday, Dead by Daylight revealed that a Resident Evil-themed chapter is on the way to the popular asymmetrical horror game. Those wondering which part of the Resident Evil franchise the crossover would be focusing on, the DLC would mostly feature characters and locations from the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3.
For Resident Evil fans unfamiliar with Dead by Daylight, the game features four Survivors and one Killer, which is similar to the gameplay of Resident Evil Resistance. Given that Survivors are pretty much helpless, their job is to evade the Killer and repair generators. Now, here is a detailed breakdown of what fans should expect from the Dead by Daylight Resident Evil crossover.

One of the biggest content expansions that the crossover will bring to Dead by Daylight is an all-new map. According to Creative Director Dave Richard, the new map will feature the Raccoon City Police Station, and the devs put in great effort to recreate the police station, as seen in the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3. The station's layout should be more or less the same as the remakes, complete with the Main Hall, the STARS Office, the archive, and many more, so veteran Resident Evil players should know the area by heart.
Given that the crossover is set to feature Resident Evil 2 and 3, Leon Kennedy and Jill Valentine will join as Dead by Daylight's newest survivors. On the other hand, the iconic Nemesis, labeled as the Tyrant in Dead by Daylight, will serve as the Killer. Based on what was revealed in the crossover trailer, it appears that Nemesis will be one of the unique Killers introduced in the game, given that he brings some of his iconic moves from Resident Evil.
Nemesis will attack players with his deadly tentacles, allowing him to harm players at a distance. More importantly, Nemesis will be able to infect Survivors with the T-Virus. Infected players will begin coughing and making choking noises, making them easier to spot. All attacks inflicted by Nemesis while players are in an infected state would deal more damage than normal. Nemesis will also be able to spawn AI-controlled zombies to hunt down and infect players with the virus.
As for the new Survivors, Jill and Leon will each have a set of unique perks, making them a little harder to kill than the rest of the Survivors. Jill Valentine has the ability to place a mine on a generator that will explode, blinding the Killer if they attempt to disable it. On the other hand, Leon Kennedy can spawn flashbangs around the map, which will prove useful when evading the Killer. Once infected, Survivors are given vaccines around the map. However, given the limited number of vaccines available, players should make the difficult choice whether to use it now or save it later.
Given that Capcom just released Resident Evil Village several weeks ago, many players are probably wondering whether the popular Lady Dimitrescu from the latest game is also set to appear in the Dead by Daylight crossover. Unfortunately, it appears that this won't be the case, given that the crossover is only focusing on Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, which remain iconic games despite the originals releasing back in the late '90s.
Additionally, Behaviour Interactive CMO David Reid said that since 2021 marks Resident Evil's 25th anniversary, the team wanted to represent classic characters from the Resident Evil franchise, and it is no secret that Leon and Jill are two of the most popular characters in the series' history. This means that Lady Dimitrescu won't be making a cameo in the crossover, though it may still be possible if fans ask for it. As for Ethan Winters, the chances are slim to none given that Dead by Daylight is played from a third-person perspective.
It remains to be seen whether Chris and Claire Redfield, who are also icons in the Resident Evil franchise, will be making an appearance at all. But if representatives from the classic era are the basis of selection, the Redfield siblings also fit the bill. The Resident Evil Chapter in Dead by Daylight will officially launch on June 15. However, all the Resident Evil content can now be accessed as part of the game's Public Test Build.
Dead by Daylight is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
