PUBG Corp updates the PUBG community with a development roadmap for 2021 that includes an updated Miramar and two new maps joining the rotation.

PUBG continues to evolve since it inspired a wave of battle royale clones back in 2017, and a big update that's coming soon will update Miramar and introduce two additional maps to the game.

PUBG Corp recently unveiled the 2021 development plan for PUBG which includes two brand new maps known as Tiger and Kiki. Tiger will be the next major addition to the game after Miramar's remastering, which will be released as part of update 12.1. Tiger is the first PUBG map to introduce respawns to the battle royale and will apparently also include "new features never seen before in PUBG."

Fans of PUBG sent PUBG Corp plenty of feedback throughout 2020 which the company intends to implement during its 2021 roadmap, with one of the biggest suggestions being a return to large maps. Kiki will be an 8x8 ratio map with denser and tighter areas that offer more chaos than most PUBG maps, featuring plenty of massive skyscrapers and vast underground labs and subways connecting everything with swamps in the outside areas.

Tiger will be another 8x8 ratio PUBG map according to PUBG Corp and, due to high demand, will be the first PUBG map to offer the respawn feature. Tiger and Kiki will come together to bring the 8x8 PUBG map rotation to four massive maps that players can explore in the quest for more chicken dinners. Apex Legends originally introduced the concept of respawns in battle royale titles, which was later adopted by Epic Games' Fortnite, and now finally PUBG.

Miramar isn't being changed too drastically with PUBG update 12.1, though there will be big overhauls to terrain and building textures. Building layouts will also be adjusted and PUBG Corp is making traversal easier on the map by removing unnecessary obstacles and debris. Miramar's cliffs are also being updated to provide more verticality which other maps offer. "Miramar has been a map that’s needed love for a while now," said PUBG Corp in its 2021 development roadmap.

Other things being adjusted in update 12.1 with Miramar's design include lighting, performance, graphical fidelity, topography, and special features. PUBG fans will already recognize some of these improvements as they've rolled out to other maps before finally making it to the desert of Miramar. Miramar's big overhaul will be in update 12.1 which releases to live PUBG servers soon, while Kiki is releasing in late 2021/early 2022 and Tiger joins the PUBG map rotation sometime in between.

Considering respawns have been widely praised by battle royale fans who have played Apex Legends and Fortnite, it'll be interesting to see how the PUBG community takes to it. 2020 largely focused on smaller PUBG maps so two new large maps will bring back players who have been waiting for something bigger.

PUBG is available right now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
