The fifth trial to challenge Genshin Impact players in the Misty Dungeon event is the Shield Dungeon. While shields may have played a minor role in unlocking certain challenges in previous trials, in the Shield Dungeon, Genshin Impact players will have to utilize a variety of defense-centric characters in order to fully complete the challenge.

In the Shield Trial, there are two challenges specific to the dungeon for players to complete. These challenges include; 1) Defeating 10 opponents while protected by a shield and 2) Completing the trial after taking damage no more than 30 times.

As with each trial in the Mystic Dungeon event, the Shield Trial also contains a Ley Line disorder that forces players to alter their playstyle. In the trial, active characters receive a 50% damage increase when protected by a shield. Characters will also trigger an AoE shockwave after picking up an elemental shard triggered through a Geo Reaction.

As a result of the aforementioned challenges and Ley Line disorder, the ideal party setup would include Noelle, Xinyan, Diona, and Albedo. With 3 out of 4 party members possessing the ability to cast shields with their elemental skills, players should be able to effectively maintain the 50% damage bonus throughout the level.

In order for characters to sufficiently utilize the second Ley Line disorder, players must consistently generate elemental shards throughout the Trial's challenge rooms. For those players unfamiliar with Geo-type characters, elemental shards are generated when a Geo element attack combines with any of the four primary elements in the game (Cryo, Hydro, Electro, Pyro).

The shard that drops will be the result of what element the geo skill comes in contact with. For example, if players cast Albedo's elemental burst after using Diona's skill, then the resulting shards will grant players an elemental shield from cryo elements. As a result, players should pay close attention to the elemental breakdown of the enemies they are currently engaged with in order to decide what elemental shards they should prioritize for shield buffs.

The ideal character to trigger this reaction with the recommended party setup is Albedo, due to the wide AoE of his elemental burst. This burst should be utilized after casting both Diona's and Xinyans elemental skills, which should result in several elemental shards being generated. It is important to note that the Shockwave effect can only trigger once every second, so players should be careful not to accidentally pick two shards up a once.

In the final challenge of the trial, players must face off against a Stonehide Lawachurl. During the fight, players should prioritize either Noelle or Xinyan as the claymore weapon type can be used to quickly remove the boss's shield.
