Biomutant has a lot of mechanics, ideas, and tricks, some of which are kept hidden. What awesome things should everyone know?

Biomutant may not be the biggest open-world RPG to come out in recent years, but it still manages to provide its players with a handful of things to do outside of just completing the main storyline. As soon as the players step into the game's open world, they're essentially allowed to go wherever they want and do whatever they want instead of just following the path laid out to them.

There are a lot of things the players can do in this game that aren't revealed to them outright. These are things a lot of players had to discover for themselves, much to their surprise and delight. These awesome things will not only make the experience of playing Biomutant much better but they will also aid players in surviving this game's world.

10 Jump From Great Heights Without Taking Damage

Players have gotten so used to being careful with great heights in games because of fall damage that players may do the same with Biomutant. However, something that the game doesn't immediately tell players is that there isn't any fall damage at all.

For as long as the player has something to land on, no matter how high their fall, their health bar will remain unchipped. The worst infliction that can happen is that the player's character will stagger for a while after landing from a great height. It's inconvenient at best.

9 Glide Through The Air

What can make traversing a massive, colorful open-world an even more enjoyable experience? That's right, the addition of a glider. A lot of games have proven just how awesome a mechanic this can be and Biomutant has jumped into the glider wagon.

As useful as this mechanic is, it's not something the player will earn through the main campaign or get at the beginning of the game. They'll have to earn the glider by completing a side quest called "Mirage." Completing at least one of these quests will give the player the ability to upgrade their Automaton. The airglider can be unlocked here.

8 Restore Mini-Bosses' Health

While roaming around the game's map, the player will encounter a handful of enemies that have health bars. These enemies are not as tough as main bosses, but they're definitely stronger than the average encounters.

While fighting these enemies, it may be tempting to pull back mid-battle because of the enemy's strength. What the game doesn't explain is that the enemy's health will regenerate if the main character pulls back away from their aggro range. The player should stick to the enemy or heal from a safe distance if they want to win the battle.

7 Change Appearance Mid-Game

The character customization at the beginning of the game can seem very overwhelming. A lot of people will have an idea of what they want their character to look like but will be disappointed because changes in appearance can also alter the protagonist's stats.

What a lot of players might not realize is that the character's appearance can actually still be changed in-game, without compromising stats. This can be done through mutation pools found in biohazard areas.

6 Gain Every Single Psi Power

Psi powers are one of the most awesome abilities in this game. These are especially essential to players who are opting for a Psi-Freak build. Every single Psi power can absolutely be earned, but players will need to have a gray moral compass.

This game implements an "Aura" mechanic. This lets the player choose whether they want to go on a "dark" path or a "light" path. Choosing just one will hinder the player to access some Psi powers, as a few of them are tied to dark or light points.

5 Silence The Narrator

Because of the game's length and the amount of cruising the player will have to do in this game, constantly listening to the narrator's comments can be repetitive and bothersome. Thankfully, there's an option to minimize the narrator's frequency to speak outside of necessary scenes.

In the game's settings menu, there's a slider wherein the player can reduce the narrator's frequency. Those who just want to roam around Biomutant's world and not be bothered by the narrator's remarks can turn this option all the way down.

4 Avoid Falling From Wires

Although Biomutant is not necessarily a traversal-heavy platforming title, there are certain areas where the player will have to tread wires and look for openings in order to get from one place to another.

While walking these wires, the character will eventually lose balance and fall to the ground. While this doesn't do any damage at all, going back to the ground can be very inconvenient, especially if it took a long time to reach the wire. To easily avoid this, the player can simply jump up and land on the wire again to regain their composure.

3 Stay Safe In Biohazard Zones With The Help Of "Surf" Spots

There are a lot of biohazard zones in Biomutant that will chip at the player's health if they linger long enough. These high-risk areas also have high rewards since the player can pick up a ton of bio points, on top of the loot that can be found.

Thankfully, there's an easy way to mitigate the zone's danger if the player hasn't increased their biohazard resistance yet or if they don't have the biohazard zone suit equipped. They can simply go to any water surface inside these zones and the biohazard level will slowly reset.

2 Watch Enemies Fight One Another

Some of the enemies in this game can be a little tough to bring down. Thankfully, in some cases, a few groups of enemies will fight each other instead of the player. This is even more useful and incredible when the two foes battling it out are mini-bosses.

The player can just sit back and watch the battle unfold and wait for one to emerge victoriously. They can then fight the remaining enemy should they wish.

1 Avoid Drowning

Swimming in Biomutant is one of the slowest means of traversal. It can also lead to death if the playable character's energy bar reaches zero while they're in the water. However, there's a tricky way to avoid this fate, and it involves fast traveling.

The player may not be able to fast travel while they're in the water, but they can do so while they're in the air. To do this, simply jump up from the water, hit the map button, and fast travel to safety.
