Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance releases next month, and developers at Tuque Games have officially confirmed that split-screen co-op is coming to the next-gen action brawler.
During a recent developer stream, Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance Lead Game Designer Kevin Neibert announced that the upcoming title would offer split-screen co-op in addition to online co-op. Neibert joined a stream on the official Dark Alliance YouTube channel with tech animator Alexandra Parent to unveil some gameplay of Dark Alliance while discussing the game with hosts Rhykker, and Deejay Knight.

During the recent Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance developer stream, Neibert and Parent led Rhykker and Deejay Knight through a dungeon full of Draugr and Goblins while discussing the game's upcoming release. The developers announced during the stream and on the Dark Alliance Twitter account that gamers will be able to co-op with friends at home and abroad alike, though couch co-op will not be available in Dark Alliance at launch.
Developers at Tuque apparently received a lot of fan feedback that inspired Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance to include local co-op in addition to the online multiplayer. Apparently, it's Tuque's main priority to support two-player split-screen couch co-op for Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC post-launch. Although Tuque hasn't confirmed an official release date for Dark Alliance split-screen, the team confirmed that it's working to have the feature ready for the first free DLC.
This free DLC for Dark Alliance will release sometime this Summer and it will likely be joined by additional changes for the game. Neibert and the live stream squad confronted a variety of beasts throughout the four-player dungeon and emphasized the importance of the cooperative nature to the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons game.
This emphasis on bringing the co-op experience to local play in the Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance DLC releasing this summer will allow players more freedom in who they choose to delve into the dark dungeons of Dark Alliance with. Local cooperative gameplay is limited to fewer games than online co-op, but fans who enjoy exploring new games with a loved one or roommate will have another title to delve into when Dark Alliance releases next month.
A solid team dynamic will be essential to successful Dark Alliance runs when it releases and split-screen co-op being released with the first DLC will help Dungeons and Dragons fans stay on the same page with their dungeon crawling partners. Considering split-screen is a major priority for Tuque once Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance releases, it shouldn't be long into the Summer before the feature is added.
Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance release for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on June 22.
