As the Demi-Fiend, players of Shin Megami Tensei 3 Remaster need to save post-apocalyptic Tokyo after the devastating effects of the Conception. Moreover, as with other Shin Megami Tensei titles, players need the help of Demons to accomplish their mission. Thankfully, Demons lurking inside Tokyo pack enough punch to take on the various threats the Demi-Fiend has to face.

Across the three Demon Types in Nocturne, Demons of the Neutral Type often feature mundane or "ordinary" creatures of folklore and mythology. However, banal doesn't necessarily mean weak in the context of Nocturne. In fact, some of these Neutral Demons have enough firepower to give powerful entities a run for their money.
10 Throne
Thrones have come from Christian angelology, where they have the designation as angels of knowledge. In turn, they represent the authority and justice of God - which makes them as closest to "perfection" as possible for an angel. At their core, Thrones are humble despite their greatness - and in the Shin Megami Tensei series, they are recurring Demons. In Nocturne, Throne serves as the ingredient necessary to evolve into Uriel, which only happens after the latter's defeat at Mifunashiro.
When they attain the Divine Throne at Level 64, they come with the affinities of Reflects: Expel, Absorbs: Fire, and Weak: Ice, Death. Interestingly, their skills also represent remarkable support abilities. For instance, Mahamaon (Innate) has 30% insta-kill to all enemies, Prominence (Innate) deals heavy Fire damage, while Brainwash (Innate) can convert Neutral Demons into recruits. At Level 67, Holy Wrath has a chance of halving the HP of all foes.
9 Fuu-Ki
Fuu-Ki, or the Wind Oni, is one of the four creatures summoned by Fujiwara no Chikata. It's become a staple Demon in the Megami Tensei series, and in Nocturne was part of the Mantra elite force who resorted to looting after Thor banished them. If the Demi-Fiend fights him, they can use Fusion to obtain him at Level 66.
This Brute Demon has the Void: Force/Death as its affinity. Interestingly, while the Fuu-Ki has rather ordinary skills, it does have some noteworthy highlights. For instance, its Lucky Find (Innate) lets its user find a random item whenever they explore the World Map, provided the user is the active combatant. Moreover, Dark Pledge at Level 69 allows the Fuu-Ki to recruit a Neutral Demon and works best during New Kagtsuchi.
8 Black Frost
Despite being diminutively cute, the Black Frost has quite an interesting history. Unlike other Megami Tensei Demons, Black Frost is the Atlus evil take on the more benevolent Jack Frost. In the franchise, Black Frosts appear when Jack Frosts become evil - and in Nocturne, the Black Frost will force the Demi-Fiend into fighting it. Interestingly, players can acquire Black Frost at Level 66 in the first switch room of the Labyrinth of Amala's Third Kalpa.
In terms of stats, the Night Black Forest has Reflect: Fire/Death, Absorbs: Ice, Void: Expel, and Resists: Physical as its affinities. In terms of skills, he appears to be more of a support unit. Its Mamudoon (Innate) has a 30% instant kill chance to enemies, while Diarama at Level 67 is a great heal. However, it shines with Void Curse (Passive), Void Nerve (Passive), and Void Mind (Passive), which gives its users immunity to Curse, Nerve, and Mind attacks.
7 Yurlungur
The Yurlungur in Australian mythology is also called the Rainbow Serpent - the bringer of rain and the symbol of life's renewal. Unlike other stronger Demons, players can obtain the Snake Yurlungur at Level 66 through normal recruit or Fusion processes. It possesses Weak: Ailment and Void: All Magic for its affinities.

In terms of skills, Yurlungur is a relatively balanced fighter. Its Mediarahan at Level 68 gives the party a full heal, while Samrecarm at Level 69 can revive an ally at full HP.
6 Atropos
The Fates of Greek Mythology also appear in the Megami Tensei series in rather unique forms. Unlike the usual white-robed symbols of fate and destiny, the Moirae Sisters have distinctive appearances. In Nocturne, Atropos appears in all leather, with her head partially obscured by a cylindrical mask. Players can only obtain her via Fusion after her boss battle.
Upon acquisition at Level 67, the Femme Atropos has the Void: Expel/Death/Mind as her affinity. Interestingly, her skills are extremely elemental-oriented. Its Innate Ziodyne, Zandyne, and Bufudyne offers an elemental mixture of Electric, Force, and Ice damage to foes. Her Elec Boost, Force Boost, and Ice Boost at Levels 68 through 70 also adds a multiplier to their respective damages.
5 Flauros
Flauros serves as the 64th demon within the Ars Goetia, and is someone with the ability to see into both past and future. In Nocturne, he appears as a leopard-like humanoid with a robotic head, arms, and legs while possessing a leopard head on the chest. Moreover, Flauros makes two appearances in the game - a non-Fallen Flauros boss that is non-recruitable, and a Fallen Flauros that belongs to the normal Demon roster.
At Level 68, Flauros possesses Reflects: Death and Weak: Nerve as its affinities. Meanwhile, some of its skills serve more of a support role. For instance, Endure (Passive) at Level 70 helps users survive a fatal blow by giving them 1 HP. Moreover, Life Surge at Level 72 gives a 30% boost to its user's Max HP.
4 Nyx
Nyx, the Greek Goddess of Night and mother of the Fates, also make an appearance in the Megami Tensei franchise. In Nocturne, players can only recruit Night Nyx after reaching Level 70. As an NPC, Nyx owns a lounge in Ginza and is helpful to the player's cause.

In terms of affinities, she possesses Resists: Magic. Interestingly, her skills have the potential for great combos. Her Dormina (Innate) has a 30% chance of inflicting sleep on opponents. Meanwhile, her Eternal Rest (Innate) has a 100% instant kill rate to all sleeping foes. This easily makes Nyx one powerful asset to any party.
3 Rangda
In Balinese Mythology, the Rangda is a child-eating demon queen that leads an army of witches against Barong and his forces of good. Interestingly, Rangda is also a recurring Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise and a Persona in two Persona games. In Nocturne, the Femme Rangda is a regular Fusion or recruit at Level 72, possessing Reflects: Physical and Weak: Electricity affinities.
However, her abilities do denote a focus on debuffing opponents. For instance, her Debilitate (Innate) debuffs basic opponent stats, Stun Claw (Innate) can inflict stun, while Dekaja (Innate) can remove all existing buffs from foes. At Level 76, her Avenge (Passive) can even give her a 50% chance to return any physical attack as heavy physical damage.
2 Lilith
Lilith in Mesopotamian Mythology is originally a demoness associated with death, illness, and disease. However, in Judaism, she's depicted as Adam's first wife cast out of Heaven due to conflicting reasons. She makes regular appearances as a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise. In Nocturne, she takes the form of a naked woman with a snake tattoo and a real snake wrapped around her body.
In terms of stats, Lilith at Level 80 is immediately the strongest Demon among the Night Race. Players should get Lilith by evolving a max-level Lilim to ensure she gets six Innate skills instead of the three in a standard recruitment. An Evolved Lilith's best skills include Analyze (Innate) which reveals one information from a non-boss enemy, and Megidoalon at Level 86 which deals mega almighty damage to foes.
1 Ongyo-Ki
The Ongyo-Ki, or the Invisible Oni, is one of the four Oni summoned by Fujiwara no Chikata in Japanese Mythology. It's notable for its invisibility, capable of striking opponents before they notice its presence. Ongyo-Ki makes a regular appearance in the Megami Tensei franchise, with its Nocturne appearance that of a sub-boss in the Ikebukoro Tunnel.
Players can only get Brute Ongyo-Ki at Level 81 through a special fusion after their boss battle. They need to have Sui-Ki, Fuu-Ki, and Kin-Ki with them for this to work. It has the Void: Death/Mind/Curse/Physical affinity. Its most interesting skills include Beckon Call (Innate) that summons a random Demon the player owns, Mudon at Level 84 that grants a 60% instant kill chance to an enemy, and Victory Cry at Level 86 that restores the user's Max HP and MP after battle provided the user is the active combatant.
