In the lead-up to the release of Scarlet Nexus, a variety of screenshots and videos are being uploaded on the official Twitter accounts.

Scarlet Nexus' June 25 release date is drawing closer every day, and the game's creators have begun to upload more and more teaser screenshots and gameplay clips to celebrate. Director Kenji Anabuki has been posting a steady stream of bonus content showing off the characters of Scarlet Nexus and their powers, while the official Twitter has been showcasing abilities, music, and moments of bonding between the cast.

Everything revealed so far about Scarlet Nexus points to this game being a unique take on the JRPG genre focused on themes of connection and loneliness, set up against a "Brain Punk" world that combines the gritty aesthetic of the 90s with psychic powers and otherworldly invaders. The two protagonists, Yuito Sumeragi and Kasane Randall, are agents of the Other Suppression Force, psychic warriors who battle the extradimensional incursion of the Others – all while a more personal conflict brews between them.

Interestingly, the psionics of Scarlet Nexus are explicitly mentioned to have had their aging process halted, presumably to keep them battle-ready for longer, meaning that most of the cast's stylized teenagers are well into their 30s. This may place some of the freshly revealed character dynamics in a new light.

While these short videos don't qualify as true trailers – like this trailer for some of Scarlet Nexus' locations – they do an excellent job of showing how different aspects of the game will play, ranging from the Brain Drive combat ability to bonding episodes where the protagonists must deepen their relationships with the other characters. This clip of Brain Drive in action reveals that the creepy hoods Yuito and Kasane are sometimes shown wearing are part of this enhanced state. The video also draws attention to some of the game's nightmarish enemy designs.

This video highlights a bonding episode focusing on Hanabi Ichijo, Yuito's cheerful and impulsive childhood friend. The first half is dedicated to Yuito and Hanabi having a conversation while the second half shows Kasane and Hanabi going out to eat. Although both protagonists are speaking with the same character, the result is very different, which suggests that Kasane and Yuito's stories may end up very different. Scarlet Nexus draws a lot of inspiration from Tales of Vesperia, a game that is well-known for its character interactions.

Some of the trailers and Scarlet Nexus' opening animation imply that the relationship between Kasane and Yuito will also be very important, though players may not have the option to increase it through bond episodes. The top screenshot shared by Director Kenji Anabuki shows the two sitting together, apparently trying to bridge the gap between their differing perspectives. The bottom screenshot, meanwhile, focuses on supporting character Luka Travers being summoned into combat.

Bandai Namco will likely reveal more information about Scarlet Nexus at E3. It hasn't been confirmed yet, but after the demo's warm reception, this seems like a natural next step for the game.

Scarlet Nexus is set to debut on June 25 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
