Monster Hunter Rise's update 3.0 is out now, and here are all the major changes that players should expect to see in the game.

Several days ago, Capcom hosted a Monster Hunter Digital Event that showed more of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and a new 3.0 update for Monster Hunter Rise. Ever since Capcom released Monster Hunter Rise last March, the game has been a commercial success for the company and received positive reviews from players and critics.

With the Monster Hunter Rise 3.0 update available now, fans can expect major changes in the game. Similar to the 2.0 update released for the game last month, the latest one should be just as big, with a download size of 1.4GB. Update 3.0 includes a new ending, a new variant of a popular monster, and several other quality-of-life changes. For players who may have missed Capcom's event, here is a breakdown of all the changes included in Monster Hunter Rise's 3.0 update.

Players who have finished the main story of Monster Hunter Rise would know that the campaign ended with a cliffhanger. As promised, Monster Hunter Rise's latest update adds the true ending to the game that will feature a battle between Thunder Serpent Narwa and Wind Serpent Ibushi, which concludes the Kamura Village story. Players should check out the latest update for themselves to know all the details of the new ending by picking up a new quest that would pop up as soon as they log in.

Apart from the new ending, Monster Hunter Rise's update 3.0 adds Crimson Glow Valstrax, a new variant of the flagship monster from Monster Hunter Generations: Ultimate. It is expected that Crimson Glow Valstrax will be just as intense in Monster Hunter Rise, so players should be in for a challenge as soon as they update the game. Additionally, the latest update also includes Apex Zinogre, which will attack players using lightning-based moves. Players can take on Apex Zinogore in both Rampage missions and standard hunts.

Aside from Monster Hunter Rise's new ending and monsters, the latest update also brings new quests for players to embark on and a new boss battle arena. The launch of Monster Hunter Rise's update 3.0 also saw the release of DLC Pack 3, which is a paid expansion priced at $24.99 that includes a wide array of cosmetic items, new Hunter voices, stickers, and poses. It is worth noting that similar to last month's 2.0 update, players are required to complete the base game to gain access to the new quests and monsters. Below is the list of changes shown during the special Monster Hunter Digital Event:

  • New monsters appear in Hub quests
  • New monsters will appear in Rampage
  • New quests will be available
  • New boss battle arena will be available
  • New weapon trees, armor, layered armor, and items will be available
  • New skills and Rampage Skills will be available
  • You can use materials to change the appearance of Rampage weapons
  • New Guild Card medals will be available
  • New DLC can be purchased from Nintendo eShop
  • Several bug fixes

During its presentation, Capcom shared some of its plans for Monster Hunter Rise with a new roadmap. In the middle of June, Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise would collab with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, adding a Palico Layered Armor Tsukino costume in the game.

At the end of June, more DLC will be released to that game via update 3.1. The next major update will be released in July, and Capcom confirmed that there would be another collab with an unspecified franchise alongside more DLC and event quests. Finally, update 3.3 will be released in August, and similar to earlier updates, it will bring more DLC, event quests, and another Capcom crossover.

Monster Hunter Rise is available now on the Nintendo Switch with a PC port expected to launch in early 2022.
