Taming mounts in Biomutant can be helpful and entertaining. Here's how you can snag your own.

Biomutant has a reasonably sized map. Getting from one place to another manually will require a lot of walking and running around if there are no fast travel posts nearby. Thankfully, there are a couple of mounts in this game that will allow the player to travel this game's vast open-world much faster.

In order to gain access to mounts, the player will first have to find mountable creatures which they will then need to tame. This process is not difficult, but if the player knows exactly what they're doing, they'll be able to tame any mount, every chance they get. There are also a handful of things the player needs to know about the game's mounting system in general.

Creatures that can be used as mounts are aplenty around the game's world. The player will get the chance to tame their first mount either by discovering a side quest or by simply coming across these creatures while roaming around the game. There is one particular side quest the player can access very early in the game called The Azure Gnoat and this teaches the player virtually everything there is to know about taming mounts.

In order to tame a mount, the player will first need to find a fruit named Pip. Pips are hidden under certain bushes which the player can slide under in order to pick up the fruit. Once the player has a Pip on hand, they can then go up to the creature they wish to tame.

Pips can be difficult to find in the game. This is due to the fact that they aren't really labeled on the map nor do they pulsate anything comprehensible that allows them to stand out. What the player should keep in mind, though, is that wherever there is a horde of creatures that can be tamed, a Pip bush won't be far off from that vicinity.

The player can refer to the image above to know exactly what these bushes look like. They are characterized by their arc formation and bright red leaves. The Pip can be easily seen on the small opening underneath.

The player will be able to easily spot creatures they can tame while roaming around the game. A couple of players may confuse these hordes of creatures for enemies, but they're easily discernable since these creatures won't mind or react to the player's approach whereas enemies have an aggro range that makes them react instantly.

It should also be noted that these creatures won't get startled and run away when approached carelessly unlike other games. There will be no need for a stealthy approach. For as long as the player has a Pip in their inventory, taming a mount is a guarantee.

If the player finds it too difficult to find Pips in the game, there is an alternative way to earn mounts without the use of this specific fruit. The player simply needs to find an NPC called the Livingthing Broker.

This NPC is a merchant that sells mounts for a fair price. If the player wants to check out other mount types but can't be bothered to collect Pips to tame them, this is a relatively easier way to get them.

There are also a handful of mounts the player can attain via quests. What's incredible is that some of the game's most unique mounts can actually be found during quests and missions. Mounts that are rewarded for completing quests also don't need to be tamed.

Unique mounts like the Mekamjut, a mechanical-looking horse, and the Mekafingro, a literal mechanical hand, can be unlocked by progressing through the game.

Aside from land creatures, what a lot of players don't know about Biomutant is that there is also a water creature the player can use as mounts in order to traverse the game's water levels with ease and speed. This mount is called the Pee-Wee Gargantua, an aquatic that can traverse even contaminated waters the player can ride to their heart's extent.

This mount is a reward for competing Gill's side quest. The player will encounter Gill for the first time in Burblebottom during Whiz's main storyline. The player can simply return to Gill and speak to him again to trigger his side quest. The player won't have to tame the Gargantua anymore once they finish the side quest. They can simply hop on immediately.

If land mounts and an aquatic mount aren't enough, there is also a flying mount in the game the player can acquire by completing a side quest. This mount won't need to be tamed anymore. The player just has to complete the side quest and the flying mount is theirs.

This flying mount is called the Batnam-Nam, a cheeky name for a cheeky creature. The player can acquire this mount by completing Pebble's side quest. This mount doesn't really "fly" so much as they glide. The Batnam-Nam can also be used as a regular mount on land, it just moves slower than the others.

Once the player finds and collects enough mounts, they can switch which mount gets summoned as prompted in-game. This option is just found in the game's settings menu.

As the player discovers and acquires more mounts, they'll immediately realize that every mount has the same movement speed. The player can simply switch them around for the sake of aesthetics.
