Fntastic's The Day Before could be set for a big launch when it releases in 2021. Despite it being developed by a new independent studio, it has gained a big following in its pre-launch period. While success for The Day Before can't be guaranteed, its early hype is a good indicator. If The Day Before turns out to be a success, Fntastic would likely consider the idea of a sequel. If a sequel was ever made, The Day Before has an obvious-yet-perfect name ready to be used.

The Day Before was quickly compared to The Last of Us for its apparent focus on human conflicts with zombie-like enemies in the mix too. Visually, The Day Before has been compared to the ruined version of New York City from The Division and The Last of Us. The game could be poised to be a breakout hit if the pre-launch publicity is any indicator. While the MMO and survival game market on PC is quite plentiful, it stands a good chance of success when it launches. Despite it not having a release date yet, it has the perfect sequel title lined up.

If The Day Before proves successful enough to warrant a sequel, a readymade name for the next game could be The Day After. This could be an obvious choice, but depending on the events of  The Day Before, it could be informative about the prospective sequel. In its wording, The Day After would make sense, as it would be the next game coming in sequence after The Day Before. The use of the word after would also heavily suggest that the game would be set after the events of The Day Before. It's an obvious choice, but it would be fitting for a direct sequel.

The Day Before could be primed for big things, and the developer, Fntastic, could be toying around with ideas for a future game. Few confirmed details are known about the plot of The Day Before, other than it takes place in a post-pandemic America. The game's title, The Day Before, could indicate that the game takes place, or starts, before a significant event. While purely speculative, the title could refer to a time before the pandemic hit America or a time before the hero faces a test while on their journey. The Day After would tie in nicely with this to suggest that the hero has overcome their test or has acclimated to the post-pandemic world that they're part of.

Whether The Day Before is a success and will justify a sequel remains to be seen. Fntastic is reportedly considering console versions of The Day Before, specifically PS5 and Xbox Series X. Console ports haven't been confirmed though many players expect an announcement sometime soon. Hopefully, the pre-launch hype for the game will translate to financial and critical success for Fntastic so that the team will be able to craft a sequel and possibly title The Day After.
