The Back Alley Brawl map in Knockout City lives up to its name. Matches here can be brutal and chaotic — so here's how to win them.

Knockout City is the latest multiplayer sensation taking the gaming world by storm. The hyperactive dodgeball battle sees 2 teams of 3 attempt to knockout members of the opposition as many times as possible while avoiding being knocked out to win.

While new content is still being added to the game, there are already several maps for players to master. One of these is the back alley brawl map. Each new day into the season makes the game more and more competitive, so having top tips for each map will be essential. What strategies can give a player the edge they need for victory on the Back Alley Brawl map?

5 Master The Tubes

One of the more distinctive features of back alley brawl is the series of massive tubes which span the whole map. Players are able to travel across the back alley in an instant using them, making them very helpful for players who can properly utilize them. The tubes are most helpful for making quick getaways. If a player is facing a barrage of quick attacks from enemy teammates, a quick role into the entrance of one of the traversal tubes can be a life saver.

The tubes can also provide tactical support for attacking players. Players who can closely follow where each tube leads will be able to perform surprise attacks on unsuspecting enemies. Those really trying to up their game should consider carefully learning and memorizing the pathways of the tubes. They can gain knowledge of where players entering will come out, making any enemy's attempts to escape futile.

4 Mind The Gap

In the middle of the map is a square section which contains a useful ball. It is fairly common in this map for much of the action to take place here. Surrounding the square is a deceptive but dangerous gap with a glowing purple light, leading to a deadly fall. In the heat of battle, it is common for players to not notice it and fall in.

Pro players will have to keep an eye out for it. True pros should also be able to use it to their advantage by luring enemies close to the gap and using a tactical ram to force them to fall. However, it is not uncommon for a ram attack into the purple edge to lead to both attacker and defender falling in. Timing will be everything here.

3 Stay Calm In The Square

As previously stated, the square in the middle will contain a lot of the action in a match. It's a pretty tight space without a lot of room to maneuver in. It's common for new players to be caught unprepared here, allowing more experienced players to rack up the knockouts and rack up the points.

With dodgeballs flying fast in such a small area, it can cause players to panic. It is vital for pro players to keep their cool and remember to time their dodges correctly. There are usually a large number of dodgeballs all flying at once in this spot. While catching is still possible, it's a lot safer to focus on dodging. Additionally, it is vital to make sure not to dodge into any of the walls. This will cause the player to become stunned for several seconds.

2 Utilize The Jump Pads

Most maps in Knockout City have a number of jump pads, generally used simply to reach higher platforms. Back Alley Brawl, however, contains several glowing green jump pads closed together.

While some were still intended largely for platforming, skilled players should use the added height for creative attacks. A well timed bounce on a jump pad paired with a curveball shot (and maybe a fake out thrown in there as well) can throw off the opponent's ability to defend themselves. Players must also be sure to use this map's abundance of jump pads to support their attempts to evade advancing enemies and dodge incoming attacks.

1 Special Ball Tactics

In Knockout City, each match will have a combination of standard dodgeballs and special balls of one type, randomly selected from the list of special balls. These include bomb balls, multi-balls, gravity-warping moon balls and more. The two ball types which should be carefully used on this map, however, are the cage ball and the sniper ball.

If the special ball in a match on this map is the cage ball, the player's best chance at a successful KOs is short ranged cage ball attacks, near the glowing purple edge in the map's center. This gap is considerably smaller than most edges on other maps, so the player must carefully and properly aim downwards towards the fall.

Should the randomly selected special ball in a back alley brawl match be the sniper ball, the best strategy is to stick to the elevated platforms, which players can access via green jump pads. From there, players should fully charge the ball and snipe enemies as if the platform was a sniper crow's nest.
