Sony's PlayStation 5 released last year and while supply has been an issue, the console has otherwise had a great start. The PlayStation 5 had a relatively impressive launch lineup, releasing alongside numerous highly-rated games like the Demon's Souls remake and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Not only that, but the hardware itself has been well-received, with many praising it as a major step forward for console gaming.
The PS5's launch month was the biggest month for the console so far, as it established its library and finally unleashed it on the world. However, June 2021 may soon give November 2020 a run for its money. June is already off to a hot start for the PS5, with the free PS Plus games for June 2021 available to download, giving subscribers access to Operation: Tango, Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Edition, and Star Wars: Squadrons. But next week is going to be even bigger.

Here is why PlayStation 5 owners should be especially excited for next week.
- Chivalry 2 (June 8)
- Neptunia ReVerse (June 8)
- Alba: A Wildlife Adventure (June 9)
- Chicory: A Colorful Tale (June 10)
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (June 10)
- Guilty Gear -STRIVE- (June 11)
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (June 11)
Next week, PlayStation 5 owners can look forward to not one, not two, but seven new game releases, ranging from acclaimed indie titles to huge triple-A releases, including two games that are arguably the biggest PS5 releases of the entire summer.
First up is Chivalry 2, an online multiplayer medieval combat game. The Chivalry 2 open beta is just wrapping up, so it's possible PS5 gamers have already been able to give it a shot and see if it's something that's up their alley or not. Meanwhile, Neptuna ReVerse is a remaster of the PlayStation 3 game Hyperdimension Neptunia. Both of those games will be available to PlayStation 5 owners starting on June 8.
Then on June 9, PlayStation 5 gamers can look forward to the PlayStation debut of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure. From the developers of Monument Valley, Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is a relaxing game about wildlife conservation that has earned mostly positive reviews so far. It's previously only been available on PC and mobile devices, so it's definitely a plus to see it make its console debut on June 9.
Speaking of indie games, June 10 will see the PS5 release of Chicory: A Colorful Tale. Chicory has likely been on the radar of indie RPG enthusiasts for some time. The game is an RPG where players explore a black and white world that can be colored using a paintbrush. It's a quirky-looking game and should definitely appeal to indie RPG fans.
While new indie games are great for padding out a console's library, it's safe to say that most of the attention goes to any given system's roster of exclusive games. Next week the PlayStation 5 is adding two major titles to its exclusives library, starting with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on June 10. An enhanced version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake with a photo mode, better graphics, and more, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is looking to bring FF7 to the next-generation.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is releasing alongside new Yuffie DLC that will give Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans some new content to experience while they wait for news on the sequel. The Yuffie DLC comes with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade when it's purchased new, but those taking advantage of the free PS4 to PS5 upgrade will need to purchase the DLC separately, with it retailing for $19.99 at launch.
The other big PS5 exclusive game launching next week is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The latest entry in Insomniac's acclaimed 3D platforming series, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart leverages the PS5's added horsepower to implement brand new gameplay mechanics that were never possible before. Whether or not it lives up to the hype remains to be seen, but pre-release coverage of the game has been overwhelmingly positive so far. Fans will find out when Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart hits the PS5 on June 11.
And finally, June 11 will also see the release of Guilty Gear -STRIVE-, the latest entry in the long-running fighting game franchise. The PS5 doesn't exactly have a ton of fighting games to its name just yet, so fans of the genre should definitely keep an eye on Guilty Gear -STRIVE- when it releases on June 11.
While many PS5 owners may be most concerned about the new video games launching next week, others may be looking forward to the new game reveals instead. There are at least a couple of events happening next week that will be of interest to PlayStation 5 fans, starting with the Battlefield 6 reveal on June 9. Battlefield 6 has already been confirmed for next-generation consoles, but the reveal will be the first time PS5 gamers get a good look at the game.
PS5 fans will also want to tune in to the Summer Game Fest event on June 11 at 11am PT. This kickoff to the Summer Game Fest festivities will feature at least 12 new game announcements. And while Sony has been confirmed to be a part of Summer Game Fest, it's unclear if that involvement includes the June 11 keynote presentation or if there will be a separate PlayStation-focused event later this summer. In any case, PS5 gamers should tune in just in case.
And finally, next week is when E3 2021 kicks off as well, with the Ubisoft press conference taking place on Saturday, June 12 at 12pm PT. The Ubisoft Forward E3 2021 event will undoubtedly give fans a fresh look at various upcoming Ubisoft games, including titles that are in active development for the PS5. The week after that will be more E3 announcements, so June in general should be huge for PS5 gamers.
