Fans of FromSofware's upcoming Elden Ring are clamoring for a new reveal trailer at E3 2021, but the odds of it happening are likely slim.

FromSoftware's upcoming Elden Ring has amassed plenty of hype by fans, which can mostly be attributed to an elongated period of silence on the developer's part. With renowned personalities such as Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin at the creative helm, there's no doubt why fans are clamoring to know what's in store.

Elden Ring to some is described as gaming's biggest rollercoaster, as most hopes of seeing a reveal any time soon have often been dashed. Almost two years after its initial reveal, fans are hoping to get another glimpse at Elden Ring at E3 2021. While it's more important than ever to keep expectations in check, the odds of Elden Ring making a return is at least more than nil.

There's little doubt that Elden Ring is one of the most hotly-anticipated titles around, and fans are constantly in search of any information that might bring them closer to release. The hype has already reached towering levels, and fans were finally able to dig up an internal trailer for Elden Ring.

While a later alleged leak was ultimately debunked to be a hoax, it's clear that FromSoftware keeping Elden Ring a secret any longer might just do more harm than good. Highly anticipated games such as the likes of Elden Ring are no stranger to toxic hype culture, and the longer secrets remain the more misinformation spreads.

Elden Ring was rumored to have started development way back in 2017, but information about the game remains paper-thin to this date. There's no doubt that Elden Ring is FromSoftware's biggest project yet, despite having experience of building immaculately connected worlds in previous Souls games. The Covid-19 pandemic has hit game development really hard, and it's known for a fact that Elden Ring wouldn't release before March 2022.

This does make it hard to predict whether Elden Ring is ready for a reveal or not. E3 presentations require extra work whose time might just be better off towards the completion of the project. On the other hand, head of Xbox Phil Spencer revealed that he has played "quite a bit" of Elden Ring, which might hint that a reveal might be due soon.

However, prominent industry insiders such as Jeff Grubb believe that Elden Ring wouldn't be present at this year's Xbox conference. While there's still some chance that Bandai Namco's presentation might house the reveal, it's nothing to bank on. Most speculation points to the publisher's conference focusing on Scarlet Nexus and Tales of Arise, but an Elden Ring surprise reveal would certainly be a show stopper.

With almost four years in the making, it's absurd to think FromSoftware and Bandai Namco would keep any more secrecy around Elden Ring than it needs to. That being said, it's more important than ever to not get hopes too high, as Elden Ring has garnered a reputation to break them.

Elden Ring is in development, with PC, PS4, and Xbox One as confirmed platforms.
