New leaked set pictures from the set of Indiana Jones 5 give fans their first glimpse and reveal Indy will be heading to an English castle.

The widely anticipated Indiana Jones 5 release date is still over a year away and plot details are still being kept closely under wraps. But now, fans finally have their first sneak peek at one of the sets Indy will be heading to, thanks to leaked photos.

According to The Northumberland Gazette, the set photos come from Bamburgh Castle in England, a sprawling, weathered building one could easily imagine Dr. Jones running after Nazis in. While the photos themselves don't reveal much in detail or what Indy might possibly be doing there, fans will still be pleased to find that this first glimpse very much looks like it fits right in with the Indiana Jones aesthetic and world.

Posted to Reddit, the Indiana Jones 5 set photos reveal a portion of the castle looking either burnt down or half-built, either of which is a possibility since Indiana Jones spends most of his time in half-crumbled buildings and temples. Harrison Ford recently arrived in the UK and the castle was shut down for filming on May 25, and it will also be closed from June 4-12, all of which point to the official start of filming. The estate will also be opening a field to accommodate the film crew as much as possible. According to the estate, they have spent years asking the Indiana Jones crew to film at the castle location. Unfortunately for fans, those are the only details available as the estate's parish councilors have signed non-disclosure agreements.

Fans have now waited thirteen years for a chance for the franchise to redeem itself after the widely disappointing reactions to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Hopes are mostly high for Ford's final Indy installment, with each additional piece of news about its progress bringing more and more enthusiasm.

Indiana Jones 5 will be the first of the series to not be directed by Steven Spielberg. Instead, Indiana Jones 5 is being placed in the hands of James Mangold, who directed Logan, which most fans consider to be the best Wolverine movie made. Spielberg will still serve as a producer on the movie and remain heavily involved with its production, and George Lucas is also said to be back to contribute to the story. With the additions of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, and Shaunette Renée Wilson, the quality of the film is looking more promising by the day.

Mikkelsen, famed villain actor extraordinaire, has even gone on record saying the quality of the Indiana Jones 5 script was everything he had hoped it would be. Having previously starred in quality productions such as Casino Royale, Hannibal, and Doctor Strange, Mikkelsen clearly knows a good script when he sees one. Until the next bit of information leaks, fans can rest easy knowing the set and script look promising.

Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to release in theaters on July 29, 2022.
