The developer of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, ustwo games, have confirmed on Twitter that it has planted over 450,000 trees in honor of the game.

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure, a game about exploring an island and working to save its wildlife, is putting its money where its mouth is. Its developers ustwo games has paired up with Ecologi, an organization devoted to making a positive environmental impact.

Similar to the case of developers iam8bit with Ori and the Will of the Wisps, ustwo has committed to making a difference with its game. While iam8bit partnered with Rainforest Trust to maintain the rainforest, ustwo's partner, Ecologi, is helping to plant a tree for every download of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure.

As of writing, ustwo has reported that the total number of trees planted via this partnership has reached over 450,000. Ustwo's ultimate goal however is to total one million trees planted. That goal is almost at its halfway point and with the game launching on consoles in the Spring, that should fuel even more downloads which will of course lead to even more trees being planted in honor of the game's message.

Alba is described by its developers as a "chillectathon," as it has a very laid back approach similar to Animal Crossing and lets its players take their time in experiencing its world. Playing as Alba, players will explore the Mediterranean island where her grandparents live. There, she will encounter various wildlife that can be documented or photographed.

Alba will also work towards helping to save the island from various environmental problems. One of her goals is to help form an organization that can help take care of the island, but as she does so, she will also be lending a hand personally.

For example, she may lend a hand in rescuing a dolphin that's been beached because it's been caught in a net. In one other example, a squirrel has to be tended to after it has ingested a poisonous substance.

Alba: A Wildlife Adventure is currently available for Apple Arcade and PC. It will be released for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in Spring.
