It's been 2 decades since Requiem for a Dream was released, helping to push Jared Leto and director Darren Aronofsky into the spotlight. While the film had a rather modest box office gross due to its explicit nature, the film is now famous for its unflinching depiction of drug addiction and being an incredibly impressive movie that is nonetheless difficult to watch.
Since then, both Leto and Aronofsky have gone on to have long and storied careers in a wide variety of film projects. Most recently Leto played the Joker in the DC film universe and is currently in the process of filming scenes for Morbius, where he will be playing the starring role.

Aronofsky has also been busy in the years since Requiem, with his biggest mainstream film being the Natalie Portman-starring Black Swan, the story of a ballerina whose life has been consumed by dance. As she forms a rivalry and then friendship with a new dancer in the production, she begins to lose her grip on her sanity and descends further into a recklessness that threatens to destroy her. Since then, Aronofsky has continued to work on other projects, though he hasn't been in the mainstream consciousness for a while.
Just recently, Deadline has reported that Leto and Aronofsky have attached themselves to a new film project called Adrift, set to be made by Blumhouse Productions. The film is based on a short story by Koji Suzuki, set on the calm, open sea. A small fishing boat discovers an abandoned yacht putting out a mysterious distress call and soon discovers why some refer to it as a "ghost ship."
Rumor is that a package has been circulated around and several buyers are already interested. Currently, Aronofsky is working on The Whale for A24, but insiders expect that Adrift will find a buyer and will likely be his next film as director after The Whale. Leto is also currently involved in several projects, including The Little Things, a sequel to Tron: Legacy, and the aforementioned Morbius.
So, it seems this latest project may be some ways away even if it does get funded. Regardless, it will certainly be a reunion to watch out for as more details start to emerge about what the project will look like and when it might release.
