It's been 3 months since Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remaster released in Japan on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, with no update from Atlus regarding its western release since August 2020, when the game was revealed. Since then, Atlus has shifted gears to promoting the launch for Persona 5 Strikers next month, leaving fans questioning when Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD's "Spring 2021" release window will be narrowed down. Thanks to Austrian games retailer Gameware, fans may know when they can expect this highly anticipated JRPG remaster.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remaster was first revealed at the August 2020 Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase presentation alongside the first teaser for Shin Megami Tensei 5 since 2017. The remaster, which is set to include full English and Japanese voice acting for the first time ever, released in Japan on October 29, 2020.

Despite this, Atlus has provided no update on the western release since its announcement. Now, it appears that the game is planned for release in May 2021, according to Gameware, a retailer that previously accurately leaked titles such as 2019's Need for Speed: Heat, and the release date for last year's Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory. The leak was accompanied by a listing claiming that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is coming in Q2 2021, which seems admittedly unrealistic.
This May 2021 release date for Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne HD Remaster makes sense, as it places the game 3 months after Persona 5 Strikers, giving both games room to breathe. The reason behind the gap between Japanese and English releases is likely due to a rumored PC port of Nocturne HD coming alongside the English release, similarly to Persona 5 Strikers. A consequence of this release date means that Nocturne HD will likely be competing with titles such as Resident Evil Village and Deathloop, which could negatively affect the game's sales.
