Video game developer Fntastic reveals first look at MMO title The Day Before with a gameplay trailer featuring PvP and PvE elements.

Video game developer Fntastic has released an announcement trailer featuring a first look at gameplay for its MMO title The Day Before. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic America ravaged by a virus that has left many as flesh-eating infected. The Day Before features a combination of PvP and PvE elements and looks like a cross between The Division and The Last of Us.

Within the first minute of the gameplay trailer for The Day Before, features like driving and managing fuel are shown off, along with a conversation with a friendly player using an in-game party chat. The game resembles The Division's post-apocalyptic cities, with the PvP 3rd-person combat looking a lot like the Dark Zone.

It seems much of the game revolves around looting areas of the city, as the trailer shows off the player looting cars for equipment like clothes and bandages, and later fans can see a short PvP battle take place as a rival group attempts to loot an abandoned building the player is in. After leaving the building, the player is faced with an approaching snowstorm, which adds other survival elements that players must watch out for. The HUD features three gauges that are most likely temperature, energy, and thirst, meaning players will have to monitor all three to survive, similar to a few other survival games out there, like Day Z.

The trailer also mentions survivor colonies, which will likely operate as safe zones where all players can buy and sell their items, as well as get into parties to explore other areas. Although not much is revealed about possible other game modes, it seems like The Day Before will be focused on the MMO gameplay.

During the trailer, fans get their first look at the infected, which can be seen in large hordes that seem like they could overwhelm players in an instant. Although the trailer does not show any kind of special or mutated infected, it is possible that different versions of infected will make an appearance in The Day Before.

The gameplay trailer shows off impressive graphics for an MMO third-person shooter. However, the title was just announced with the gameplay trailer, and no release date has been revealed yet. Given that the first look at The Day Before features a good amount of gameplay, fans may see much more of it before the game is released.

The Day Before is currently in development.
