Players looking forward to MLB The Show 21 can now get an inside look at the extra benefits that will be available for the various editions.

As is tradition for games now, MLB The Show 21 will be releasing in multiple editions. The PlayStation Blog announces the details and extras players can grab for each version of MLB The Show 21 when it comes out.

Like other sports games, this classic series takes players into the world of major league baseball. With the current news, it sounds like gamers will be able to enjoy the 2021 version of the title on next-generation consoles. With three possible editions to grab on launch day, fans will want to know the details of each.

For most, MLB The Show 21 Standard Edition will be the one to snag in April. As the base version, it comes with the game and 5,000 stubs. It is also the edition available for last generation consoles. Like many other new releases, the Next Gen Standard Edition will be releasing at a higher price point. However, if players are willing to grab the game for the new Xbox or PlayStation, there are some additional benefits. It comes with the game, 10 The Show Packs, and 5,000 stubs.

Hardcore players can also get excited because there is going to be a Collector's Edition. Though, at this time the details of this bundle are still unknown. If hoping to grab this edition, check out the PlayStation Blog this upcoming Wednesday, February 3 for the full reveal. Unfortunately, it looks like there will be no upgrade from the base Standard Edition to the Next Gen Standard Edition. So those hoping to get around the price hike are out of luck.

In today's industry, it is fairly commonplace to release multiple editions for a new game. With the prevalence of deluxe digital content, there are always certain items that can be thrown in to encourage customers to snag the higher tier version. Including 5,000 stubs across the different editions should be a nice perk for gamers. The resource allows for purchasing extras in game, so any additional boost will be welcome. Plus, 10 The Show Packs is a nice touch for those not wanting to dish out more cash after release.

Of course, many players will likely be frustrated by the two different Standard Editions. While details are slim, it is unlikely that the Next Gen Standard Edition will offer significant game enhancements. With other series offering next-generation improvements free to gamers, this could be a hard pill to swallow. By asserting there will be no upgrade path for the regular Standard Edition, players with a new console will have to grab the more expensive title. However, two versions of MLB The Show 21 will probably be the norm going forward, and fans can look forward to the Collector's Edition reveal too.

MLB The Show 21 releases on April 20 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
