A movie based on the turbulent events surrounding the on-going GameStop/Reddit stock situation is already in the works.

In a new report by Deadline, it’s been revealed that MGM has acquired the rights to the book proposal for a new title called ‘The Antisocial Network’ from author Ben Mezrich.

This book will follow the events of “a ragtag group of amateur investors, gamers, and internet trolls” who – through investments, coordination, and playing the bankers at their own game, “brought Wall Street to its knees.”

Apparently, Mezrich and his representatives started sharing the proposal on the market at the end of last week – when this whole story was still, really, in its infancy – and by Friday night, MGM had made steps to get the rights to the story.

Menzrich has experience when it comes to telling stories like these, though. The author is the mind behind ‘The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding Of Facebook, a Tale Of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal’ – which you may otherwise recognize by the name it took when it hit cinemas: The Social Network.

Though the story about what’s happening with GameStop and Reddit’s WallStreetBets community is still on-going, Deadline notes the project “is known to be a priority”.

We imagine the final story is going to be somewhere between Wolf of Wall Street and The Social Network – albeit with names like DeepFuckingValue, BootySenpai, and 1daBread eschewing Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin.
