Mercy is one of Overwatch’s most iconic heroes, making it no surprise that she has seen some of the best cosplayers interpret her standout looks.

The Overwatch hero Mercy is loved by many, as she has proven to be a popular character both inside and outside of Blizzard’s hero shooter. With gameplay that offers newcomers a chance to be useful in their first games, while also being deep enough for longtime Mercy fans to master her kit, many have spent time playing as the hero. Her budding relationship with Genji and a history with the core members of Overwatch help to make Dr. Angela Ziegler integral to the overall story as well, and above all else, her unique design has inspired many to take inspiration from the hero.

There have been several great Mercy cosplays over the years, including the one seen above where the cosplayer Lady Melamori dons Mercy’s Winged Victory skin. While this costume based on Mercy’s popular Summer Games outfit is excellent, there are a few others that are on the same level of quality. While there have been great interpretations of Mercy’s Witch, Valkyrie, and Combat Medic skins, these three cosplays cover some specific Mercy looks. One showcases a perfect translation of her classic outfit, another showcases an important alternate design, and the final cosplay portrays a version of the hero that never made it into the game.

Out of all the heroes in Overwatch, Mercy has been given some of the best in-game skins over the years. Beyond the official alternate looks from Blizzard, though, fans have been creating great Overwatch skin concepts for the character — ranging from a Dark Steampunk look to a Lovebringer Valentine’s Day outfit. However, even with all these stylish and unique outfits, Mercy’s default skin remains excellent. It seems like cosplayer ButtercupBrix agrees with the idea that less can be more, as instead of donning one of the more eccentric Mercy cosmetics, ButtercupBrix creates a masterful version of Mercy’s classic outfit.

Small details like the medic symbol are seen on the body armor, while sleeves on the arms make Mercy look real. The cosplayer nails the hairstyle and makeup as well, completing her excellent portal of Mercy. While the support character will be joining all the other heroes in getting a new look for Overwatch 2, the original default outfit will surely be remembered fondly by fans.

The next Mercy skin replicated by a cosplayer is by far the hero’s most meaningful outfit. Back in May of 2018, Blizzard added the Pink Mercy skin to support the Breast Cancer Research Fund, with the goal of the costume being to raise money for a large donation. Players could purchase the skin for $15, with 100% of the proceeds going to the charity. With the minimum goal of the special program being $250,000, the fact that this charity skin for Mercy raked in $10 million is hugely impressive.

Not only was the Pink Mercy skin a success, but so was cosplayer Yukeshiro’s interpretation of the outfit. The Polish cosplayer’s eye for detail is impressive, as the loose bits of ribbon look as great as they do in-game. The outfit itself looks incredibly high quality, with the different colors and textures on Mercy’s armbands, dress, and gloves all stand out clearly. The Pink skin’s headband is also worn by the cosplayer, with the skin’s signature hairstyle making an appearance too. With matching eyeshadow and lipstick worn by Yukeshiro as well, every piece of the outfit is top notch — and all of them come together in a brilliant way.

Rounding out the list is a male version of Mercy, with a cosplayer named Zibartas using old Blizzard concept art as an inspiration for his design. While many adore what the Mercy character ultimately became, the hero was originally meant to be more of a fighter, with the battle angel mercy including a bulked up neck-brace, tougher armor, and a red and black color scheme. While this was obviously changed and the art never led to an in-game hero, Zibartas still brought it to life via the art of cosplay — and the standout aspect of the outfit is by far the working, animatronic Mercy wings.

Months before his actual cosplay was completed, Zibartas showed off his wings online, with the flight device seen on Mercy’s back proving to be just as spectacular in real life. Months later, he returned with the completed Mercy outfit, showing off an LED-lit Halo and LED additions to the wings. As if that was not enough, a working Caduceus Staff was also created, making Zibartas’ Battle Angel Mercy the most functional design of the bunch. While this is a newer costume that depicts a lesser-known version of the Mercy hero, it is more than worthy of the praise and easily ranks among the best Mercy skins shown off thus far.

Overwatch is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
