Pokemon Let's Go released back in 2018 with two versions in true Pokemon style, and the games featured simplified gameplay reminiscent of the mobile Pokemon Go titles. The games were a commercial success with over ten million units sold at this point. With the Pokemon franchise as popular as ever and forays into other genres with the announcement of a new Pokemon Snap title, many fans are wondering whether or not there will be a new Pokemon Let's Go game in the future.
While a recent leak about a potential Diamond and Pearl Let's Go remake has been dismissed by some online, many are wondering about where a new Let's Go would take place. Many think it would follow chronologically and take place in Johto. Ultimately, The Pokemon franchise has a rich pool of regions to draw inspiration from, and many would deserve a Let's Go treatment. But of all the regions available to retread, one stands apart for some players as an area that has seen a good bit of love among the various remakes and reworked Pokemon titles that have been released so far. The Hoenn region from Pokemon Emerald would be one of the best choices for a new Let's Go.

Pokemon Emerald, and its two predecessor titles Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire, is a fan-favorite region in the long-running franchise. The new story included loads of new Pokemon to catch and some interesting legendries in the series with Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza. The popularity of the Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby titles could hint that Nintendo would be open to further exploring the region with a new Let's Go. While total sales numbers for Emerald are exceeded by the titles before it and now Pokemon Sword and Shield, the third generation of Pokemon was very popular among fans new and old, and it still holds a special place in many fans' hearts.
Pokemon Emerald's Hoenn region would be a fun place to explore in the Let's Go style. Having the third generation of starters alongside the players as they explore the Hoenn region would be a nostalgic trip for many. Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Chikorita are still many fans' favorite set of starters despite the almost staggering number of them available today, and some of the legendaries are recently highlighted in Pokemon Go like Latias and Latios. The story of Emerald also features some big set piece moments that would translate well to the higher graphical fidelity afforded by the Switch over the 3DS, where the Sapphire and Ruby remakes reside.
While there are plenty of regions to choose from when considering the possibilities for a new Let's Go title, Hoenn stands out for many fans because of the popularity of the original games and Nintendo's general attention given to that same popularity with introducing Pokemon specific to the region in newer titles like Pokemon Go. And with the game's 25th anniversary set this year, fans may be expecting a lot from the Pokemon franchise this year. With the franchise adding new spinoff titles like the new Pokemon Snap, speculating about a new Let's Go may just prove to be more than a pipe dream.
Pokemon Let's Go is available for the Nintendo Switch.
