The Aldecaldos have a long and rather dark history, one that many fans are yet to uncover.

While they certainly play a huge part in Cyberpunk 2077, many find themselves intrigued and excited to learn about their past, especially since it seems to be such an important thing for this particular family. That's because it's so rich and exciting! It also opens up so much more deep lore for the Aldecaldos that fans absolutely adore.

Every gang in Cyberpunk 2077 has their own history and reasons for their creation; 6th Street were created to stop gangs from polluting Night City, Maelstrom are the concoction of multiple gangs. and the Aldecaldos are a family created by death and disaster. Ultimately, each gang has its interesting lore, but none are richer than The Aldeclados.

10 Who Are The Aldecaldos

Put simply, the Aldecaldos are a Nomad gang/family who made one of their homes on the outskirts of Night City. They don't pursue power or fear, instead seeking contracts and enough money to live comfortably. This gang was formed of a literal family but over time the Aldecaldos have taken all sorts of outcasts and nomads into their home, creating quite the notoriety.

They are one of the two Nomad groups inhabiting the outskirts of the city, otherwise known as the Badlands, and are constantly battling with each other. However, the Aldecaldos seem to be the friendlier of the two.

9 They Go Back A Long Time

Many of Night City's gangs can be considered to be relatively new, especially when compared to the long and important history of the game's favorite Nomad gang. The Aldecaldos were formed in Los Angeles during the 1990s when the city was turned into a corrupt warzone filled with all sorts of dodgy deals.

The founder, Juan Aldecaldo, began in the defense industry, guarding his family and offering protection to those who need it. As he got stronger, Juan moved to Mexico City and eventually back to the USA in 2015 after increasing the gang's numbers and power.

8 There Are Thousands Of Them

Players will only see around 100-200 members at one time, but they will be shocked to know that not only are there around 600 in the Night City region but there are around 10,000 actual members dotted around America and Mexico. This makes them easily the biggest gang in the game and as mentioned, they are undeniably growing in numbers and have been for decades.

Since they pride themselves on being a family, it's not surprising that many members have children of their own that stay in the gang, increasing the numbers in the process. That being said, many see and believe in the values of the Aldecaldos and are just looking for a family of their own.

7 They Were Founded Through Tragedy

While they were founded because of a war, this isn't the only tragedy that this family has been through. They began as casualties of war and eventually caused Juan to lose his livelihood and ended up living in a slum. He also lost his daughter in a car accident the day before her 17th birthday and caused his son, Ramon, to leave school from the grief.

However, it wasn't until his son was killed in a gang fight on his 19th birthday that Juan finally broke and created a clan to protect his remaining family and help them grow and prosper, making sure this never happened again.

6 They Don't Have Much Turf

Many of Night City's more prominent gangs have their own turf to control and live in, but Nomads aren't like that, they refuse to be confined within the walls of a city. This is one of the main reasons that the Aldecaldos have such little turf for such a huge gang.

However, it's also due to the constant battle for power they are forced to engage in with the Wraith gang. The Aldecaldos are known to be constantly fighting with this gang, which makes it extremely hard to own anything of value or size when it comes to land. This is exactly why they only own the land between US 101 and Rocky Ridge.

5 They Haven't Always Been In The USA

While the Aldecaldos certainly started and made their name in Los Angeles, it was actually Mexico City where this group really started thriving and getting the recognition they were looking for. It's known that the group's first few months in Mexico City were tough but they began helping renowned gangs and assisted many Nomad families who were seeking aid as a kickstart to success.

The gang grew in such quick succession that the US government tried to stop them from coming back over to the USA. However, ultimately their numbers overpowered the border guards, and the Aldecaldos, along with hundreds of new Nomads and beloved Johnny Silverhand who stayed with them for a few years.

4 They're One Of The First Nomads

When the Aldecaldos began, the term Nomads wasn't really popular or well known. This family were the first true Nomads and certainly paved the way for others just like them.

They began laying down what makes a Nomad "a true Nomad" and are the creators of many of the values and often strict rules this lifestyle abides by. This lifestyle began back in the 1990s, which goes to show how rich in lore the Nomads actually are. It also shows how much work the Aldecaldos have put into being where they are now.

3 They Don't Just Scavenge

Nomads are known for taking everything they can get their hands on and making an awesome and powerful car with it. They pump them with machinery to make them faster, stronger, and better. However, the Aldecaldos don't just scavenge for their fortune.

They take part in bootlegging, smuggling, and even hire themselves out as manual farm laborers when times get really tough. Many will hire a Nomad for a smuggling or scavenging job purely because they know the routes outside the city better than anyone. Most of the roads out of Night City are called Nomad trails and are usually dominated by the Aldecaldos' smugglers as they take their goods to the crime cities of America.

2 Some Of The Members Were Military

The wonderful thing about the Aldecaldos is that they pride themselves on being a family, but that has never meant being of the same bloodline. This is precisely the reason that this gang has some extremely interesting members like Panam, Mitch, and Scorpion.

Interestingly, it hinted on a few occasions that Mitch and Scorpion are war veterans and have some incredibly awesome military-grade tech in them. They are strong fighters and soldiers who have undeniably saved members and the player on many occasions. The members of the Aldecaldos are all pretty badass.

1 The Leaders Aren't Always Family

Depending on which path the player takes, there are considerable changes in the power structure that surrounded this family. It's known that Panam and Saul have many many arguments about how the gang should be run, and this isn't the first time something like this has happened. When the first leader, Juan Aldecaldo, took full power after "Padre" passed away, many of the older family members tried to make it democratic and wanted to vote, but ultimately Juan refused.

It was at Juan's passing that he handed the responsibility down to Santiago, not a family member but an Aldecaldo nonetheless. This was then passed down to Saul Bright, who remained in power until V comes along and changes the gang's trajectory, depending on the path chosen by the player.
