Trying to get a PS5 console has been a nightmare for anyone that wasn't lucky enough to snag one during pre-orders or at launch, so any news of a restock is often met with great enthusiasm. The latest chance that players have to get their hands on the highly sought after next gen consoles comes courtesy of Meijers, a midwest US retail store. Meijers claims that it will start stocking PS5 consoles in store very soon, and that prospective buyers should check local stores occasionally for a sign indicating how much PS5 stock the store has remaining.
Thanks to various factors such as limited supply, scalpers, and incredibly high demand, the PS5 has been very difficult to purchase. There are countless players still willing to give Sony the $300-500 for the next generation console, but that find themselves unable to because of all this. It doesn't help that sales have been restricted to online thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, causing many retailers' websites to crash under the strain.

For this reason, Meijer's announcement is somewhat surprising, but it will only benefit a select group of people regardless. At the moment, Meijer has stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Wisconsin, so anyone outside of those areas is mostly out of luck. Nearby US citizens might be able to drive to one of these states, but it would be difficult to justify given that there's no guarantee of obtaining a console after arriving at the nearest Meijer.
Meijer didn't go into any details regarding how much stock it will have or when the sales will begin, but it did share an image of a sign that will be posted out front of all of its stores. Pictured above, this should help players keep track of how many consoles are in stock and when sales will start for each individual store, but they will still need to act quickly if they want to have a chance of walking out the door with a PS5. More information will likely become available soon as midwesterners get eyes on the stores and their stock.
As unfortunate as it is that there are still so many without PS5s, it seems like it will only be a matter of time before this supply and demand debacle solves itself. Retailers and Sony are taking steps to combat scalpers, and if players are patient enough, they will eventually get their chance to experience next generation gaming firsthand.
The PS5 is available now.
