Rockstar Games is celebrating the standalone version of Red Dead Online with free gifts. Players enjoying the multiplayer mode for Red Dead Online's open world will be able to collect a host of goodies soon.
Red Dead Redemption 2 saw critical acclaim after launch, but the Online portion less so. More recently, Rockstar Games separated the two games and made a standalone edition for Red Dead Online. For just $4.99, fans can hop into the western world and posse up with friends. Due to the support for this release, the developer is now releasing a package of special gifts for players.

The offer is available for those having played Red Dead Online between December 1 and February 15. Fortunately it does not matter which version, either standalone or part of the full game purchase. Some of the benefits are significant for consistent players. 5000 Club XP, a free Stable slot, and two free ability cards should help new players get a leg up. Plus, depending on their starter horse, players can get a free horse under rank 40 once receiving the gift.
That is not all though, and Rockstar Games is adding in plenty of other odds and ends for gamers. There are a few typical type of rewards, like a free hat, coat, and ammunition which can be helpful for buffing up a character. There are some consumable items like tonics and a fast travel voucher too. But along with the free benefits come special discounts. Fans will be able to pick up a weapon for 50% off, a non-role pamphlet for 40%, and anything from the Wilderness Outfitters for 30%.
All in the all, the celebration for Red Dead Online's standalone version is not too shabby. Some of the rewards will be useful despite the one and done nature. Though, a free Stable slot is handy when wanting to reimburse a free horse as well. Players can snag the rewards within 72 hours, found at the camp lockbox or Post Office. Little benefits like these can go a long way for encouraging fans to keep engaging with the game.
This celebration will probably not impress hardcore players. Despite Red Dead Online being out for awhile now, these small bundles seem to be the only content fans get. Even GTA Online is still receiving major updates, but Rockstar's western multiplayer gets a free hat. It seems strange that the developer is celebrating the success of the standalone version, but without any real content update for the game. Nevertheless, gamers who recently got into the multiplayer have a decent bundle of gifts heading their way.
Red Dead Online is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
