Oil Makers can be created in Stardew Valley to make different oils as Artisan Products to make money or to be used in cooking recipes.

In Stardew Valley, players can accomplish just about anything they want to. Players can become foresters or gatherers by profession, learn to sew, farm, and cook. But in order to be a great cook, players will need to be able to make cooking oil to make some delicious dishes.

In order to make any oil in Stardew Valley to learn how to cook, players will first need two things: an oil maker and some ingredients. Oil makers are Artisan Equipment just like Cheese Presses, Kegs, Looms, and more; it's used to make Artisan Goods in the form of oils.

Creating an oil maker requires the player have a level 8 Farming Skill to learn the recipe. After that, players will need 50 slimes, 20 Stardew Valley hardwood, and a gold bar to craft the oil maker itself. Oil makers can then be used like any other equipment with just the oil's ingredients and some patience.

Players can make two different kinds of oil with an oil maker in Stardew Valley. There is basic Cooking Oil and Truffle Oil.

  • Truffle Oil - Made with Truffles, Truffle Oil takes 6 hours of time to create in an oil maker, and can be sold for 1,065g.
  • Basic Cooking Oil - Basic cooking oils can be made from a variety of ingredients. When making it with corn, it takes about 16 hours. With sunflower seeds, it takes 2 days of in-game time. The fastest processing time is when making oil from sunflowers themselves, which only takes an hour. Basic cooking oils can be sold for 100g. The best way to get Sunflowers is to grow them; they take about 8 days to grow and have a chance to drop more sunflower seeds when harvested.

Players can also buy basic cooking oils from Pierre's for 200g each.

There are a lot of recipes that require some kind of oil to cook, usually with just basic cooking oils. Players will need a variety of ingredients to make them. Several of these recipes also have some great benefits, like extra fighting power, health, and stamina. For example, cooking some Stardew Valley mushrooms with Morel and oil will make Fried Mushrooms, which boost attack power by 2.

While basic oil is not required for any quests in Stardew Valley, players can use oils to create a shirt. When used in the spool of a Sewing Machine, basic oil creates an Oil Stained Shirt. Truffle oil is needed for a quest given to the player by Mayor Lewis.

Stardew Valley is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
