The Pokemon Company announces that it is launching an instructional weekly video series to help its fans learn more about the TCG.

For Pokemon fans who have been contemplating about getting into the seemingly intimidating Pokemon Trading Card Game, now might be the perfect time to buy that first starter deck. Because just recently, The Pokemon Company has announced that it is launching a new video series that will teach interested fans the ins and outs of the Pokemon TCG.

The Pokemon TCG has been around the fandom for almost as long as the video game titles and anime series. As The Pokemon Company continues to add more Pokemon to every generation, the Pokemon TCG has kept up to date each time, providing fans with new Pokemon cards to collect, and a new meta to play around with in the competitive scene. With how long-running the TCG has been, new fans are most likely intimidated, often not knowing where to even begin. This is probably the main reason The Pokemon Company has decided to produce its new Pokemon TCG video series.

Starting February 4, 2021, at 2 p.m. PST, The Pokemon Company will upload weekly videos that will help Pokemon TCG players, both old and new, learn more about the card game. The series has been named Top Deck Academy and will be shown every Thursday on the company’s official Twitch as well as the official YouTube channel, which is home to popular animated series such as Pokemon: Twilight Wings.

According to the announcement, Top Deck Academy will help educate both beginner and veteran Pokemon TCG players by introducing them to new Pokemon card decks, helping them build or customize their own playing decks, and even provide card battle strategy tips and tricks, for competitive fans who are interested in getting into the tournament scene.

One of the most interesting features of the Top Deck Academy series is how the videos will have prominent Pokemon TCG personalities as guests in the show. Though no information about the official guest roster has been revealed, fans are likely hoping that the top TCG champions, and even some popular Twitch streamers who are interested in Pokemon cards, will make guest appearances in the weekly videos.

With 2021 being the 25th anniversary of the Pokemon franchise, the Top Deck Academy video series cannot have come at a better time. With recent announcements that The Pokemon Company is re-releasing classic Pokemon cards, and even including booster packs as freebies in McDonald’s Happy Meals, Pokemon TCG fans have plenty of content to look forward to as Pokemon continues with its exciting anniversary celebrations.
