In Hitman 3, challenges provide players with different ways of completing its missions. These challenges include different ways to assassinate a target, disguising Agent 47 as key characters, or exiting a mission by boat. While in Mendoza, during the mission titled, The Farewell, Agent 47 gets an opportunity to let others do his dirty work while he sits back and enjoys the show. The Murder by Proxy Challenge in Hitman 3, tasks Agent 47 with not actually eliminating his targets himself, instead, he must let others eliminate his targets, Don Yates, and Tamara Vidal. This guide will break down the steps players will need to take to complete this challenge.
The Murder by Proxy challenge can be completed in a couple of different ways depending on how players want to progress through this mission. This guide will focus on completing this challenge during the Closing Statement Mission Story. Players will want to start off in the Parking Lot Starting Location, bringing with them some coins for distraction. At the start of the mission, players will want to go left to a circular structure where they will find a man talking on the phone. Behind the man to his left, players will find an invitation they can use to enter the party. Show the invitation at the party entrance to gain access.

Hitman 3 players will need to make their way down the stairs and straight into the building in front of them. Inside the building, to the right, Agent 47 will come across two men talking, The Tour Mission Story prompt will appear, listen to the story and follow Corvo Black. Once players have followed Black up the stairs, he will go to the right and walk past a patch of tall grass. Using their coins, players can lure Black, into the tall grass where they can subdue him, and steal his disguise. Dressed to impress as Corvo Black, Agent 47 must follow the quest marker and complete, The Tour Mission Story, without eliminating Tamara Vidal.
Players will finish The Tour Mission Story, in the Barrell Room. After Diana and Tamara leave with Don Yates, the security guard will inform the Sommelier of Yate’s request. Agent 47 will need disable the security doors leading to the Sommelier. To do that, exit through a pair of glass doors, opposite of the Sommelier room. Hitman 3 players will want to follow a second pair of glass doors to the right and up the stairs. The security room is to the left at the top of the stairs. The security computer is to the right in the security room. Agent 47 may have to subdue the security guards in the room before accessing the computer and disabling the security doors to the Sommelier.
Once the security doors are deactivated, players will have 60 seconds to make their way back down the stairs, to the left, out the glass doors, and to the Sommelier’s room. Once in the Sommelier room, to the right of the doors, Agent 47 will find a panel on the wall, use this to frost the glass doors. Players will need to subdue the Sommelier and his assistant, once subdued, steal the Sommelier’s disguise and disable the lasers guarding the 1945 Grand Paladin. The laser security code is coincidently, 1945.
Once Hitman 3 players have grabbed the 1945 Grand Paladin, they will want to make their way out of the Sommelier room, talk to the security guard who will escort Agent 47. Follow the guard to the security checkpoint to be frisked. Players may discard their illegal items around the corner, to the left, before being frisked by the NPCs. Once cleared, follow the security guard up the stairs. Place the wine on the table in the room and follow the prompt to present the wine. Watch the events unfold.
By the end of Don Yates’s speech, Tamara will have been eliminated, finishing half of the Murder by Proxy Challenge. At this point players will gain a 10-minute timer to save Diana. Rescuing Diana will allow players to finish the second half of the Murder by Proxy Challenge. Agent 47 will want to make his way behind Don Yates, finding a door to the left. Follow the stairs until Agent 47 reaches a guard, follow the guard until he stops, subdue him where he stands and steal his disguise.
Enter the door nearby, there will be a small set of stairs to the right that lead to a second set of stairs with a guard at the top. Throw a coin to the top of the first flight of stairs, luring the guard. Subdue him and drag his body down the stairs, dump him in the closet on the first floor. Head back upstairs, follow Diana’s instructions, dumping the bodies in either of the two hiding spots in the room. Talk to Diana to get the details on her plan, wait for Yates.
When Yates enters the room, listen to his conversation with Diana, waiting for her signal. When Diana stabs Yates, follow the prompt to shoot the wench, eliminating a guard. Eliminate or subdue the remaining guard. When both guards are down, wait for Diana to tell Agent 47 to finish the job, interact with Yates to stab him, again. Hide Yates’s body and change into Agent 47’s suit, conveniently located on a rack in the room. Yates's car keys can also be found on the night stand, next to the bed, to access/complete the Grand Theft Auto Challenge.
Unfortunately, players have reported that the Murder by Proxy Challenge is currently bugged and may not immediately mark as completed. Players who have done all of the above steps, will need to exit the house, and roam the map, waiting for the challenge to update and complete. This may take a couple minutes; Hitman 3 players should not exit the mission until the challenge updates, or they will have to repeat this challenge from the beginning. When the challenge updates, and marks as completed, players may use any exit strategy available to Agent 47, completing The Farewell mission, and the Murder by Proxy Challenge.
