Though the Grand Theft Auto franchise has never taken itself too seriously, Grand Theft Auto Online takes this to an entirely different level. Various events in the game have added wacky things such as the ability to transform into animals using Peyote plants, but this latest discovery is surprising even to veteran players. While exploring the ocean far from shore, one player discovered the bones of what appears to be a giant sea creature floating in the water. Rockstar Games hasn't made any announcement about sea creatures, so fans are stumped as to why this is there.
There are a few running theories already that fans have come up with to explain the existence of this sea creature in Grand Theft Auto Online, but in truth none of them one hundred percent fact. Players are making new discoveries and uncovering mysteries all the time in this game, so it could be that this is yet another unsolved conundrum.

After sharing the image of this colossal skeleton, one of the first theories to crop up related to an already well-known easter egg that also has to do with colossal bones underwater. Players can find bones buried under the sand at the bottom of the ocean that appear to resemble those of a Sperm Whale or even an ancient Megalodon, so it's possible that this discovery was the result of these bones glitching out of place. Others believe it's a glitch caused by the player getting too close to where Cayo Perico spawns.
The truth still remains uncertain, but players that want to take a look at it for themselves can head out to sea and find it. The player that found it initially shared the coordinates of its location as X: 5667,83 Y: -6076.61 Z: -29.47. Obviously, that's very far out to sea, so swimming isn't recommended, but the more players that have eyes on this strange skeleton, the sooner the mystery will be solved. Hopeful fans think this may be a hint at something to come in the future of Grand Theft Auto Online, perhaps populating the ocean with more life, while others assume it's just an easter egg or even a glitch.
Whatever is causing these sea monster skeletons to appear in the oceans of Grand Theft Auto, players are sure to figure it out quick. One thing that gamers have proved time and time again is their propensity to unravel mysteries and find hidden secrets, and this will likely be no different.
Grand Theft Auto Online is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
