Overwatch's Lunar New Year event is commencing today and, like every year, Blizzard has created some new, thematically appropriate skins to let fans celebrate the occasion. The first, a Tiger Huntress skin for Ashe, was already confirmed yesterday and now Blizzard has revealed another one, this time for Echo.
Named Kkachi Echo, it pretty much does what it says on the tin and sees Echo dress up like the bird of the same name, complete with dark blue and gray feathers and her "wings" now resembling a bird's wings. Considering Echo's main feature is her ability to glide through the air, her having a bird skin is an obvious pick but very fitting. Her new highlight intro also sees her perform a lovely dance with a pair of fans made out of light.

Interestingly, while the kkachi (otherwise known as the oriental magpie) is found in the likes of China and Taiwan, it's also a common symbol in Korea and is even considered to be the official bird in numerous South Korean cities and counties.
It makes sense for Echo to receive a new skin as she is still the newest addition to Overwatch's roster, having only made her debut last year, which makes this her first Lunar Year event. This year does mark the Year of the Ox as well, so fans can likely expect at least one character to get a skin based on the animal. Perhaps a cowgirl skin for one of the women? Given Orisa is a quadruped and already has an ox-like build, it would make too much sense for her to get a themed skin too.
While support for Overwatch continues, some fans are growing increasingly desperate for Overwatch 2 news. Blizzard has barely discussed the game since its initial announcement in 2019. With online event BlizzCon taking place later this month, there will no doubt be some new details then. The big one would be a release date confirmation, but between how quiet Blizzard has been and rumors that development has been slow-going, they is a very real possibility that fans will be left waiting even longer, possibly even into 2022.
Recent comments from the voice actor for Genji haven't helped, as he stated that he has yet to record any lines for the game. While this could only support the aforementioned rumors of slow development, some fans are now anxious that it means Genji's voice actor could be being replaced.
Overwatch is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
