The DMR was recently nerfed recently in Warzone but thankfully there are a lot of great ARs to choose from to conquer your enemies.

Raven's second nerf to the DMR was much needed, and Warzone players can finally use different weapons in Verdansk. After the damage range nerf to the Kilo, players are looking for the next best AR to use at medium to long range. The meta in Warzone is in the best place since the game was launched, and the community is thankful that Raven is listening to player concerns.

For the first time since last March, players have no idea what the best primary weapon in the game is. When ranking an assault rifle, there are a number of important considerations including time to kill, recoil, damage range, bullet velocity, versatility, and ease of use. Below are all of the assault rifles in Warzone ranked from worst to best in season 1.

The FR or Famas is notorious for being the worst assault rifle in the game. The gun's modest damage values and wide pellet spread make it difficult to use in Warzone. If players can somehow hit all three bullets in consecutive bursts, the gun can be serviceable. However, players will rarely hit every shot due to the dispersion of the FR's bullets.

The Black Ops: Cold War AK has the worst recoil of any assault rifle in the game, and it is not even close. While the Cold War AK has good damage values, trying to control its recoil at medium range is incredibly difficult. Players would love to use the AK in Warzone, but the gun is not viable in its current state.

The XM4 is relatively low on the list due to bullet velocity and visual recoil. The Cold War M4 actually has decent range values, and players that use it should test it out at intermediate ranges. While the gun is usable, there are much better weapons at the bottom of the list.

After the FAL nerf a few months ago, few players use the gun in Verdansk. The weapon is still very good up close and at medium range, but not very competitive at long range for a number of reasons.

The FAL is a semi automatic weapon, and unlike the DMR, it has a bouncy recoil pattern and low damage at range. Players can still sue the weapon up close as their secondary, but it is not a top tier primary weapon.

The Scar packs a punch, but it has moderate horizontal and vertical recoil. The gun also has a limited ammo capacity of 30 rounds, which is not good enough in trios or quads. Players can pair the Scar with a sniper and use the gun's iron sights, or use the VLK 3.0x and build the gun for ranged gunfights. There are far superior guns than the Scar in Warzone.

The AK-47 is one of the most underrated guns in Warzone. With the right attachments, the AK-47 will obliterate entire teams. The main issue with the AK is its recoil after the first few bullets. The gun jumps up quickly, and players have to account for the immediate jolt to hit opponents. Skilled players can get a lot of kills with the AK, but it takes some practice to master.

The Oden is another underused weapon because it is a gun with a slow fire rate, high recoil, slow aim down sight speed, slow movement speed, and a 30 round magazine. With the right build, players that can hit their shots will down enemies with ease.

Because of the Oden's limitations, players that miss just a few shots will be taken down. The weapon is definitely fun to use and viable if paired with a good SMG.

The Groza is a situational weapon, and because of its S shaped recoil pattern, it is not competitive at long range. While the weapon is very good up close, the FFAR and AS VAL have better times to kill. Players looking to pair an assault rifle with a sniper are better off using the FFAR.

Similar to the Groza, the AS VAL is a short range weapon with moderate recoil. At point-blank range, the AS VAL can stand up against the best weapons in the game. Despite the effectiveness of the gun, it only has a 30 round magazine, which will deplete extremely quickly due to the AS VAL's fire rate. Players can pair the AS VAL with a sniper in solos and duos.

Even after the damage range nerf, players can still have an immense amount of fun using the gun in Warzone. The Kilo's predictable recoil and ease of use make it a solid assault rifle in the game. At range, the gun now takes several more shots to kill an enemy. Because the Kilo was primarily a ranged weapon, many of the weapons below are better options when fighting enemies at a distance.

The QBZ-83 is much higher on the list than it would have been several weeks ago. Like the Kilo and Grau, the QBZ is a laser from range, and it appears to have the best recoil pattern of all the assault rifles. Players should only use the QBZ at long range, as it has the lowest theoretical time to kill of all the assault rifles. Regardless, the accuracy of the gun at the longest ranges makes it viable in certain situations. Players will be amazed by how well the gun performs when used against players in cars and helicopters.

The Krig 6 and QBZ are similar weapons, but the Krig has a slight advantage in the time to kill category. Players can use the QBZ for slightly less recoil or the Krig for slightly more damage. The Krig remains one of the good, but not great ARs in Warzone.

The AN-94 fills in the role of the pre-nerf Kilo 141. Testing has revealed that the AN actually has a very good TTK at medium to long range. Players that want to use the weapon correctly should hold down the trigger instead of spamming the two shot burst. The AN's time to kill drops significantly if players try to burst the weapon due to its burst delay. Warzone players that can hit both burst shots can down enemies relatively quickly from distance.

The M4 is the old reliable AR in Warzone. The weapon has always been a really good gun in Warzone, and it remains one of the best guns to use in the game. The M4's high fire rate and moderate recoil make it a good weapon to use within 50 meters. Because of its recoil, the gun will never be the meta weapon in the game. If players use the gun correctly, it can be one of the best ARs to use in Warzone.

The M13 is creeping close to the bottom of the list due to its fast fire rate and controllable recoil. Yes, there are several guns with better recoil patterns, but the M13 is just slightly easier to control than the M4. Many players complain that the M13 is a hit marker machine, but the gun will down enemies quickly if players mix in head shots. Players than fail to mix in a few headshots will have several armor hits before an enemy is downed.

The FFAR is superior to all other ARs at close range. The gun has an incredibly fast fire rate and better damage values than the guns listed below. Players should pair the weapon with a sniper, as the recoil is impossible to control beyond 20 or so meters. Because it can only be used at short range, the following three assault rifles are better because they can be used in a variety of scenarios.

Many Warzone players have claimed that the Grau is back in the meta. Unfortunately, the Grau just does not deal enough damage to be considered the best assault rifle in the game. The weapon is still in the top tier, and players will not be disappointed with the weapon's performance at intermediate and long range. The Grau has a substantially high time to kill, and players will lose close-range duels using the gun. Players can opt for a long-range Grau build with a VLK, or use the Archangel barrel and equip either the tac laser for aim down sight speed or rubberized grip tape for improved recoil control.

The RAM-7 has been one of the best assault rifles in the game for a long time. The RAM has amazing damage values, and can be used as a close range weapon with a sniper, or built for medium to long range. The only downside to using the RAM is its recoil, which can be hard to manage. Players should be patient with the weapon, as there is a learning curve to using it appropriately.

The AMAX is the best assault rifle in the game. Players can down three enemies with just 45 rounds in the AMAX and have bullets to spare. The weapon is the best option for players that want to use an assault rifle as a primary weapon. Players can also take advantage of the gun's great close-range damage and pair it with a sniper. The AMAX is one of the most versatile guns in the game, and it is dominant from any range. Unlike the previous assault rifle metas, the AMAX has substantial visual recoil. Players need to re-learn how to aim from range when using the weapon. The T-pose reticle for the VLK optic can help to reduce some of the visual recoil when firing the AMAX.
