Dice's Star Wars Battlefront 2's multiplayer scene can be intimidating for newcomers. What are some mistakes beginners should avoid?

Star Wars: Battlefront II is thriving three years after the game's launch, and new players are joining the community every day. Experienced players have been playing the game for some time, and beginners should avoid making a number of simple mistakes. The game was free to play recently for PC players that have the Epic Games application, and hordes of new gamers are excited to give the game a try.

The developers at Dice have worked tirelessly to fix bugs and other issues that made the game difficult to play at launch. After numerous substantive updates and server issues, the game is in its best state since 2017. To have the best experience, naive new players should make sure to avoid making the mistakes outlined below.

Many inexperienced players fire their blaster until the weapon overheats. Instead of managing the heat of the blaster, they will just stand still while waiting for their blaster to cool down. When a blaster overheats, players should keep moving and use the dodge roll to avoid being hit while waiting for the cooldown.

After some practice, players should try to hit the yellow bar while dodging to get the heat delay after cooldown. By using these tactics, they will be hit less and have a better chance of taking down opponents.

To win games in Battlefront II, players need to push the objectives every time they spawn. If teams hide in the back of the map behind objectives, they are just inviting the enemy to trap them at the initial spawn locations.

New players may be hesitant to get involved in gunfights and take on skilled opponents. However, if they do not move up, they will be trapped at spawn and lose the match.

The CR-2 is a great weapon that is easy to use for new players. However, the gun is not effective at medium to long-range. Many new players try to use the weapon from a long distance and end up dying as a result. Every weapon in the game has different statistics, and every gun should be used in the correct scenario.

The best way to get a feel for when to use a weapon is to experiment with the different items in the game. Players should make sure to pair the best weapons with the most effective star cards. Beginners should also make sure to equip attachments that match their playstyle. For example, specialist classes are better with the dual scope instead of the base sight. Likewise, weapons used in tight quarters can benefit from a burst modification to increase fire rate.

New players should know that objectives and turrets cannot be accessed by players that are not spawning as infantry. While it is great to have players that are team-oriented, non-infantry characters will not be able to access the objectives to win matches.

Players that are focusing on objective and turret play should use the correct star cards to optimize infantry play.

Players new to Battlefront II will often use the villain Emperor Palpatine incorrectly. Palpatine can attack with two hands instead of one. Beginners assume that a two-handed attack is not possible because Palpatine blocks with one hand.

If players hold down both the right and left thumb triggers, the Emperor can use his electricity attack with both hands. Beginners should get an understanding of how to use each hero before employing them in the battlefront.

Pressing the ability button more than once will cancel the ability. For example, players using Darth Vader will cancel the force choke if they press the ability button twice.

Newcomers should remember to hold and not spam the ability button. Spamming as a hero may work sometimes, but it is not recommended when using hero and villain abilities. Some heroes have two-part abilities, which will not work if players are hitting the ability button too fast.

Many players new to Battlefront II will forget to adjust their settings before jumping into online multiplayer. There are a number of settings that will help beginners get better at the game. For example, aim assist is disabled on the standard settings and is extremely helpful in gunfights. Without aim assist, enemy players will have a significant advantage.

Players that are not used to the game and mechanics need every advantage they can get. The initial sensitivity settings in Battlefront II are extremely low, so players need to find a sensitivity that works for them. Newcomers should experiment with all of the options and find settings that work for them. Figure out which settings are appropriate in co-op play before playing competitive games.

Every hero has a stamina bar, and they have both offensive and defensive stamina. Some heroes have high offensive stamina, while others have high defensive stamina.

Players need to mind the stamina bar when using attacks, and heroes without stamina will be killed in short order. Again, spamming buttons is not the proper way to use heroes, and the stamina bar will deplete quickly as a result.

There are only two modes in the game that are strictly kill based. Beginner frustration is often caused by chasing kills instead of focusing on the objective.

By taking objectives, teams can push into enemy spawns and get far more kills in a match. Players that play the game modes correctly will get heroes faster and will enjoy the pace of the gameplay much more. Additionally, winning games will help players get more experience and unlock more star cards, weapons, and attachments.

FPS fans will be tempted to play Battlefront II in first-person, but skilled players will always be in third-person view. By playing in third-person, players can see more of the map and peek around corners before fighting with enemies.

Beginners handicap themselves by limiting their field of view in first-person. The third-person view allows people to control their movement better and flank enemies. Players that can't stand third-person can toggle it in-game and use the first-person view when fighting enemies at range.
