The world of Skyrim is filled with two-handed weapons. Here's a look are some of the absolute best available and how to get them.

Skyrim has so much to offers fans even as it hits its tenth anniversary. With countless quests to explore and an astronomical amount of mods available for the game, it's almost guaranteed that everyone will find something they enjoy while playing.

The Dragonborn is capable of dealing large swallows of damage if they know which weapons to put in their two capable hands. While players are capable of using their Smithing skills to make some impressive weapons, there are some unique ones available in the game that players should consider for their special advantages.

10 Headsman's Axe

The Headsman's Axe looks incredibly unique but doesn't deal as much base damage as other two-handed weapons. So why is it on the list? It has a massive range. The Headsman's Axe is literally the longest weapon in the entire game. Giving it proper enchantments can allow players to keep other melee-based enemies far away while taking them down.

The only way to get this axe is by taking it from Ahtar after the execution in Solitude. This can be done peacefully by getting him as a follower then taking it from his inventory or violently by just killing Ahtar outright. Either way, it's the perfect weapon to use with the Decapitation perk, and is a unique choice that even long-time players of the game may have never tried.

9 Drainblood Battle Axe

This unique Nordic battle axe is one of four ghost weapons available in the game. While it can't be upgraded at a grindstone, the fact that its health absorption doesn't require charges to use is incredibly convenient. The only time these are available to grab is during the quest The Staff of Magnus so players need to make sure to grab one while they're in Labyrinthian.

8 Silver Greatsword

The Silver Greatsword may look basic on the surface but it has far more complexities than players might expect. While it can't be improved at a grindstone, its additional effects of dealing greater damage to the undead don't count as an enchantment. This means that players can add enchantments on top of it to make the sword even more deadly.

Players will only find this sword on members of the Silver Hand. Luckily, they are commonly encountered while doing quests for the Companions. If the Dragonborn really needs that silver right away, they can go to one of their strongholds at Driftshade Refuge,  Faldar's Tooth, Lost Knife Hideout, and Gallows Rock and take down enemies to get one.

7 Wuuthrad

Does the Dragonborn have a particular hatred of Elves? Then Wuuthrad is the perfect weapon to wield! This legendary axe that was once used by Ysgramor can belong to the player if they complete the Glory of the Dead quest. While they have to place the axe on a statue during the quest, nothing bad happens if they take it for their own before leaving. It can also have extra enchantments placed upon it to make it even stronger.

6 Volendrung

Volendrung is a daedric artifact that has a particularly useful perk as a two-handed weapon. Most of these weapons take a lot of Stamina to use, but this massive hammer absorbs some whenever the Dragonborn lands a hit. Players can get this legendary hammer by completing the quest The Cursed Tribe for Malacath, the Daedric Prince.

5 Champion's Cudgel

With each swing of the Champion's Cudgel comes a 50% chance of dealing 25 fire, frost, and shock damage. Wow! While players can eventually manage to find and grant weapons stronger enchantments like this, it's the only way for players that want a full set of Imperial armor to use anything but a sword and shield. It's granted to players after they defeat General Falx Carius during March of the Dead.

4 Dawnguard Rune Hammer

There's a way for the Dragonborn to level up Destruction magic while swinging a weapon? The Darnguard Runehammer is a phenomenal unique weapon that allows the player to place fire runes whenever it's swung. The kind of extra damage this allows can be astronomical and each spell cast does increase the Destruction skill.

Players will be able to find it during the Dawnguard side quest Lost Relic. It can appear in one of seventeen radiant locations and unlike many other unique weapons, it can still be improved at a grindstone.

3 Ebony Blade

The Ebony Blade can be obtained from one of the darkest quests in the game. If players can complete the quest The Whispering Door they can acquire the blade, but it won't be at full power yet. The only way to make the blade as powerful as possible is to kill ten characters in the game that are friendly to the Dragonborn. Oof! If completed, the Ebony Blade absorbs 30 health per hit without needing charges to do so which is a phenomenal effect.

2 The Longhammer

Players can get The Longhammer near the corpse of Rahd at the end of the Liar's Retreat quest. On the surface, this orcish Warhammer doesn't look like it could deal a lot of damage compared to many options players can smith themselves. However, its ability to swing far faster allows it to deal more damage per second than any other warhammer in the game. There is even a way through creative crafting to give it six unique effects.

1 Bloodskal Blade

The Bloodskal Blade releases a massive energy blast whenever it is used for a strong attack which allows this two-handed weapon to even attack foes from a distance. It looks incredibly amazing and is worth using just for the look alone, let alone the powerful effect it has. With the proper perks, it can even be upgraded at a grindstone. Players get the Bloodskal Blade during The Final Descent where it is used to solve special puzzles in the Bloodskal Burrow.
