The Last of Us 2 is widely regarding as a masterpiece by critics and looked back at fondly by many fans that played the game last year. However, when The Last of Us 2 first released, the game was incredibly controversial — largely due to the character of Abby.

Despite Abby having valid reasons for doing what she did, many players despised the character and the fact that that they had to play as her for half of the game. Despite an award-winning performance from voice actress Laura Bailey and an emotional story that gives players a reason to sympathize with the character, many failed to connect with her. However, just as many players love Abby, with one fan of the ruthless survivor cosplaying as the character.

Cosplayer and photographer Alessia Grossi took on the tough task of bringing Abby to life, and the result is an image that is more akin to a screenshot than a cosplay. Showing off both her cosplay and photography skills, Grossi captures Abby’s mean streak well, depicting her having a fight with an infected enemy. Showing a clear eye for detail, blood on the infected foe’s arms and growing spores on its head show that it has recently turned, and the thought out design could give an idea of what the zombie-like foes will look like in The Last of Us’ HBO series.

As expected, Abby boasts her impressive physique, with the muscled arms standing out just like the character’s braided hair. Though Alessia Grossi’s Abby cosplay is top tier, she is not the first fan to dress up as the game’s complex antagonist. Jocelyn Mettler, Abby’s face model, got in costume as her character for Halloween last year. Donning a muscle suit and posing with several items from the game, including a burrito, Mettler’s Abby outfit is outstanding as well.

Still, Grossi’s design showcasing some in-universe action is as good as it gets, and it is actually not the first time the cosplayer has dressed up as Abby. Late last year, Alessia Grossi shared a photo on Reddit where she recreated a scene from The Last of Us 2. Showcasing the moment from the game’s second trailer where Abby was first revealed, another cosplayer dressed as a Seraphite is seen taking a knife to the stomach of Grossi’s Abby. With the same fiery sparks and woodland setting recreated, the dark moment captures the same feeling the scene gives off in-game.

With Grossi clearly having a knack for her craft, as the photography heavily enhances some already strong cosplay, it will be interesting to see if she recreates any other memorable moments from the game. From the Rat King fight to Abby’s unforgettable clashes with Ellie, there is no shortage of scenes to bring to life.

The Last Of Us 2 is now available on PS4.
