There are many different Pokemon that players can use for battle in Pokemon GO. While some of the most powerful ones out there are rare legendaries only available through raids or events, others can be raised and evolved like most other Pokemon.
Normal-type Pokemon aren't usually used in a lot of fights in Pokemon GO. One of the best normal-type Pokemon however is Slaking, the final evolutionary stage of the Slakoth line.

Slaking is a pure Normal-type Pokemon, making it weak to only Fighting-type moves, but also only resisting Ghost-type moves. It can be received by players evolving a Slakoth into a Vigoroth with 25 Slakoth candies. Vigorath then can be evolved into Slaking with 100 Slakoth candies.
The big gimmick behind Slaking is that it can only know one fast move. This move is Yawn, a Normal-type move that does absolutely no damage and only provides Slaking with 8.8 energy per second for its charge move. With this in mind, this means that the only way that Slaking can deal damage out to opposing Pokemon is by getting off charge moves.
There are four different charge moves that Slaking can learn. They are Hyper Beam, Earthquake, Play Rough, and Body Slam. Players can only have their Slaking know Body Slam currently through specific past events or by using an Elite Charge TM on their Pokemon.
Out of all of these charge moves, Hyper Beam is the best. It will give out the most possible damage per second after Slaking takes the time to build up its energy by using Yawn. Hyper Beam additionally benefits from the same-type attack bonus that isn't given by Play Rough or Earthquake due to Hyper Beam being a Normal-type move.
Compared to some other Pokemon, Slaking is one of the riskier ones to use. It luckily is capable of taking a bit of a beating before letting off its Hyper Beam. In fact if players manage to use it, it is fully capable of completely depleting many Pokemon's HP bars. Those in PVP battles or battles against leaders of Team GO Rocket however should pay attention to how many protect shields their opponent has. With how much Slaking relies on getting off its charge move, blocking any of them can be devastating. For this reason, Slaking can be recommended as an anchor of sorts so it will be less likely for there to be any protect shields left.
