Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic Games is hinting at something big in the near future. Fans of the mascot platformer should be excited to learn that Playtonic Games is cooking up something--perhaps Yooka-Laylee themed-- and a reveal is on the way soon.
Yooka-Laylee was a very successful kickstarted game as an ode to 3D platformers from the Nintendo 64 era. The more recently released Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair reviewed fairly, as Playtonic Games mixed the series up with 2.5 platforming. Where the developer will go next is not yet known.

In a recent tweet, Playtonic Games let fans know that it would soon reveal what it has been working on. Interestingly enough, Playtonic has also been teasing an entire rebranding, so this reveal could have to do with that. While many love the Yooka-Laylee games, it may be time to branch outside of that specific series, and/or outside of the platforming genre.
There are also rumors that a publisher like Microsoft may purchase Playtonic Games. This could certainly open the doors financially for the developer to create bigger and better games, as long as the new publisher allowed Playtonic Game the opportunity to still be creative in its choices.
Whatever is around the corner, fans should not have to wait much longer. Playtonic has been making small hints recently, so it is likely that the reveal will be coming soon. Whether the reveal ismore Yooka-Laylee or something else entirely, the team at Playtonic Games is talented enough to put together some interesting ideas for all sorts of gamers.
