Destiny 2's newest season, Season of the Chosen, raises Guardians' power caps to accommodate new activities and threats to the system.

Destiny 2 launches its new season today, Season of the Chosen. As with every new season, the in-game power cap has been raised, giving Guardians a new power level to grind for. Guardians power levels are split into two separate pieces that combine to make the total power level displayed on Guardians character menu.

Destiny 2’s power cap is broken down into five parts. the Power Floor, the Soft Cap, the Powerful Cap, the Pinnacle Cap, and lastly, the Artifact Levels. The Power Floor is the lowest level that Bungie starts Guardians out regardless of progress from previous seasons. The new season of the Chosen Power Floor is 1100, meaning Guardians will have a minimum of Power Level 1100. The Soft Cap has been raised to 1250, this is the Power Level Guardians can reach with normal gear drops from any activity.

The two remaining Power Caps are ones that Guardians put more effort into chasing every season. The Powerful Cap is the level that Guardians can reach by turning in Powerful Engrams. In Destiny 2's Season of the Chosen, the Powerful cap has been raised to 1300. Powerful engrams have three tiers of power increase with Tier 3 giving the biggest increase to Guardians Power Levels.

The last Power Cap, the Pinnacle Cap is the cap that many Guardians strive all season to reach. The Pinnacle Cap has been raised to 1310. While the Pinnacle Cap is only 10 levels above the Powerful Cap, Guardians can only progress past the 1300 Powerful Cap towards the 1310 Pinnacle Cap by participating in activities that award Pinnacle drops or Pinnacle Engrams. These activities are more endgame-focused such as Raids and Iron Banner.

Guardians who strive to go beyond the Power Cap of 1310, can do so by utilizing the Seasonal Artifact. Destiny 2's Seasonal Artifacts grant Power Levels on top of any gear levels, and as such allow Guardians to go beyond the Pinnacle Cap of 1310. Guardians should take note that these artifact levels are not included in some activities such as Iron Banner. Artifact levels are also reset on a seasonal basis so the Artifact levels gained in the previous season will not roll over into Season of the Chosen.

Guardians enjoy the grind towards a new Power Cap every season, some even spend a lot of time to see how high they can get their Artifact Power as a testament of strength. Today, Guardians will test that strength against a new Cabal threat in various new activities brought in by Season of the Chosen.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
