Players can do all kinds of things in Subnautica. These might not seem obvious, but they make the game all the more enjoyable.

"Darling it's better, down where it's wetter, take it from me!" Subnautica is immensely popular with loads of players trying to survive in the watery depths of a foreign world. Famous YouTubers like Markiplier have even gone through the entire game for their fans (in a 78 part series nonetheless).

With Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero coming soon to Nintendo Switch, players might want to dig into the game with new eyes and try new things they've never experienced before. The game holds lots of secrets and fun activities that players may have never tried but they absolutely should.

10 Tame A Stalker

A lot of players never learned that it's possible to tame Stalkers in the game. It doesn't last forever, but while it does, the Stalker is a wonderful ally. Players just need to feed the Stalker any kind of catchable fish or offer it metal salvage. Once tamed, the Stalker goes out and brings metal salvage to the players to give them as a gift.

9 Geyser Cook Some Fish

It's time to go fishing, with geysers! Who has the time to actually cook things up in a kitchen these days, especially when marooned on an alien planet surrounded by water? Players can use geysers to quickly cook fish in the game. Any fish that die from geyser eruptions instantly turn into their cooked food forms which can be quick and also hilarious to make happen.

8 Super Jump

Some glitches in games can be absolutely devastating. Other times, they are absolutely a blast and open up cool opportunities in the game. The floating air pump super jump is definitely the latter.

To make this work with the floating air pump, first players need to deploy it. Then, players need to jump on top of the pump. Finally, pick up the air pump from the edge and go flying into the air! The glitch still works in Subnatica: Sub Zero as well so players should practice how to do it.

7 Ditch The Goggles

Subnautica is an absolutely beautiful game but unfortunately, one thing can get in the way: goggles. There is a screen effect that makes it look like the player is looking out of goggles they are wearing underwater. It looks particularly rough on wider screens and can spoil the visuals of the game. A lot of players don't realize they simply have to press F6 and the visual effect vanishes in an instant!

6 Fly A Skyray

Who needs an escape rocket when they can just fly on a Skyray? Players just need to head to the floating island in the game and wait patiently for a Skyray to fly by. Players can then jump on and soar into the sky! It's honestly quite the hilarious glitch because seeing such a tiny critter somehow lifting a full-sized human into the sky is utterly absurd.

5 Get The Rare Cyclops Greeting

Most players never get this adorable greeting from their Cyclops as it's incredibly rare to see happen. It may take several tries, but players can get the Cyclops to greet them by saying, "You are the best captain on the planet, I'm not even squidding." It's not only punny but of course, the player is the only captain on the planet. Cyclops have jokes it seems!

4 Raymond Run

Managing to "Raymond Run" as speedrunners have dubbed it in Subnautica takes some specific setup but it can be absolutely worth it in the game. It's hard to find a faster way to move across the map.

To activate the glitch, players need to die while riding on a Rabbit Ray from its radiation. Then, players can glitch through platforms to be flung off in one direction at breakneck speeds. It's sort of like the Endless Stair Glitch in Super Mario 64.

3 Perform A Reaper Magic Trick

Don't fear the Reaper! Players can go full David Copperfield and literally make the Reaper vanish off the map. It's a great way to deal with this ferocious beast and makes exploring easier. If players get into a Cyclops, they can attempt to ram into the Reaper as hard as possible. If done correctly, the Reaper will literally vanish from existence in front of the player, not returning until they exit and reload the game.

2 Building In The Moonpool

It's likely not intended, but it's possible to build things like windows in the Moonpool. This can lead to an array of cool visual glitches in the game for players to check out and enjoy. Getting the placement just right is a challenge, but it's right next to the docking hook for players making attempts.

1 Speedrun The Game

So many players get lost exploring the fantastic underwater worlds of Subnautica they forget that the game actually has an ending. Sometimes, racing to the finish can be an absolute blast! It's easier than ever before to get into speedrunning and Subnautica offers an incredibly unique experience for players that want to speed through it. There are loads of categories for runs as well giving players plentiful options on how to play the game.
