Modders have ensured that there is always something new to experience in Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. What unique things do mods provide?

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has ushered in many new inductees to the video game world as well as captured countless hours from seasoned veterans. Many gamers had several hundred hours poured into Skyrim before any DLC was even released. But even after players had surpassed the 500-hour mark, they would still find new quests, characters, lore, and locations.

Skyrim on its own offers a distinct and expansive world, but with the help of modding tools and hours of effort from the modders themselves, the game is virtually never-ending. Skyrim will continue to have new content and experiences for the foreseeable future.

10 Fighting A Dragon On An Airship

Fighting a dragon was exciting enough, riding a dragon through the sky was an absolute thrill, but fighting a dragon in the sky? Unbelievable. Airships were introduced through the infamous Moonpath to Elsweyr mod (the creator of that mod went on to create their own game called The Falconeer).

Afterward, the airships were made customizable and more accessible with the Dev Aveza mod that allows players to create their own home in the sky. But players should keep an eye out, for they are not in the skies alone.

9 Live Out Death Note

The Death Note mod is an essential download for fans of the popular manga, who will already immediately understand the premise of the mod. For those who haven't seen or read Death Note, the idea is that writing someone's name in a book will kill them.

In Skyrim, when speaking to any unique character (even those from other mods), players will be given the option to memorize their name and face. Later the Death Note book may be opened and their name may be selected along with the death of choice from four options. Be warned: essential characters can be killed as well, so choices should be made carefully.

8 Launch NPCs Into Space With Cabbage

Most people probably haven't thought about harming someone with a head of cabbage. However, gamers aren't most people and now that they know this is an option, they can't be stopped. With the Deadly Cabbages mod, players can use the leafy vegetable to cause staggering impact damage to both friends and foes alike.

When leveled up enough, there is a ragdoll effect similar to that of the giants launching the Dragonborn into the stratosphere, which is arguably hilarious. When conquering the elements of magic, players must never forget the most important one: the element of surprise.

7 Have A Bear Musician As Your Hype-Man

Mods truly don't get any better than being able to summon a bear to play Misirlou when the player goes into battle. Nobody knows how much they need this incredibly specific companion until it is in front of them. The Bear Musician mod not only comes with this perfect lute-wielding companion to cheer players on in battle but with a ring that summons dancing hagravens as well.

The mod has even been updated so that the bear can use its lute as a weapon and another version, BeArserk, has been created that features a stomping and clapping bear with Queen's "We Will Rock You" to motivate players in the fight.

6 Experience Manantis

A whole new world is added to Skyrim with the Phenderix Magic World mod. Don't let the name fool you, the mod is full of experiences for much more than just mages. Manantis can be teleported to from anywhere and contains (but is certainly not limited to) a Harry Potter-esque college, a fortified outpost known as "The Wall," and even a forbidden forest.

In addition to a brand new world, the mod comes with new spells, armor, weapons, spells, and everything else to enhance your adventuring experience.

5 Be A VampWolf

The fight between vampire and werewolf fans has long raged on and Skyrim was not spared from the dispute. The Werewolf quest lines that concluded with players having the option of accepting lycanthropy were included in Skyrim from the beginning, but vampire quest lines were added later in the Dawnguard DLC.

Since that time the debate of which transformation is better or more beneficial has amped up, but there isn't a need for it anymore. With the True Hybrid mod, gamers can finally achieve VampWolf/Werepire status and enjoy the best of both worlds.

4 Fight Someone With A Literal Wagon

Sheogorath wakes up and chooses chaos. Lucky for gamers, all of the random and insanity that comes along with everyone's favorite mad prince comes perfectly packaged in the Sheogorath Shout mod. This mod adds all manner of silliness, from a powerful shout that makes it rain cheese to weapons that explode enemies into liquor.

Perhaps the most random of all is the Wagon Priest Staff, which throws actual wagons at the player's enemies (or friends — Sheogorath doesn't judge). As it turns out, wagons aren't exactly the strongest weapon so prepare to fill the room by the time an opponent is successfully taken down.

3 Live Out The Most Important Moment In GoT

Nobody expected that a Starbucks cup being left on set for a fraction of a scene would go down as the most memorable moment on Game of Thrones, yet that's what happened. The cup that went down in infamy was immortalized in the mod Skyland Coffee that replaces tankards with Starbucks-style coffee cups.

Since then, the mod has been updated to not replace all tankards and to offer Skyland Coffee as a stamina-increasing beverage for purchase from most shops.

2 Become A Chicken-God

The Chicken mod for Skyrim is wild. The player puts on chicken armor and then may summon a "master chicken" for a short time which is not only invincible but can also shout. It also summons around five chickens with each cast and is compatible with the Exploding Chickens mod to make for a particularly lethal time.

The Chicken Companion mod allows a chicken to be a great and constant companion that has adorable chicken-sized armor. Finally, the bad blood between the Skyrim chickens and the Dragonborn can be resolved and the team-up is more powerful than anyone imagined.

1 Visit Falskaar

Falskaar is one of the most extensive and impressive mods on the market. Not only is an entire continent independent of Tamriel created but an additional 25 hours of content is added. There are new quests, original tracks, and fully-voiced unique characters.

Falskaar was crafted so the creator could test their skills and if it's any indication that he did well, he has since been hired at Bungie.
