Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s latest update arrives, adjusting League Play and making a major quality of life change for Zombies fans.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been steadily improving over the last several months, with Treyarch fixing the game’s glitches and working to solve its content problem. The latest Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War update continues this trend, expanding on League Play and addressing complaints from Zombies players.

After several months of leaks and rumors, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launched League Play this Monday. With competitive modes proving to be a staple of Treyarch’s past titles, it seems like the developer wants the newest Black Ops game’s version of the mode to continue this tradition. Bringing back the 4v4 gameplay of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 version of League Play as well as 30 ranks to complete as players climb the competitive ladder, there are good incentives to keep players invested in securing wins with their squad.

From victory flames to special calling cards and skill categories, this ranked mode should prove incredibly satisfying to fans of the older variations. Today, Treyarch narrowed down the rules of the mode, restricting all suppressors as well as numerous barrels. The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War scorestreaks War Machine and Armor were also restricted, with Jammers and Molotovs joining them. Gung-Ho rounds out the list of restrictions, with other League Play changes focused on create-a-class fixes and UI improvements.

As for Call of Duty Zombies, a major sweep for glitches and bugs on Firebase Z was carried out. Several issues related to the returning Tombstone perk were rectified, while crashes during the map’s main quest Easter egg were solved. An out-of-map glitch was also removed, while a minor visual issue on the RAI K-84 Wonder Weapon was rectified. However, while these bug fixes are all nice to see, the Call of Duty Zombies community is thrilled about one specific change.

Prior to this update, players were forced to return to the Die Maschine map to complete their camo challenges, as only Megatons are recognized as “Elite” enemies. A move that frustrated players who wanted to grind out their camos on Firebase Z, Treyarch eventually seemed set on keeping the system as is. Fortunately, though, the feedback was taken into consideration and both Mimics and Manglers now count toward the challenge. With even Orda the Assault Round boss counting as well, unlocking one of the game’s camo sets should be much easier now.

The final section in the notes mentions the intel of Firebase Z, confirming that an artifact that was supposed to unlock during the Main Quest was bugged. Fortunately, this intel has been fixed, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies fans now should be able to collect every item with ease.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
