News broke last week that Robert A. Altman, the co-founder of ZeniMax Media and the CEO of the company since its formation in 1999, had passed away on February 3, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Carter, and their two children. Carter recently took to social media to post a touching tribute to her late husband.
Lynda Carter has had a prolific career in film, television, and music, and was uplifted to pop culture icon for her portrayal of Diana Prince in the Wonder Woman television series, which aired from 1975 to 1979. Carter had met Altman when he was still working as a lawyer in the Washington, D.C. area. The two married in January 1984, and went on to have two children during their 37 years of marriage, James and Jessica Altman.

Carter starts her tribute by saying that her husband will always be the love of her life, and that she hopes that everyone could be "lucky enough to experience" the type of love and passion they had. She also thanks fans for all their condolences, and has enjoyed hearing from fans about the times they met Altman, because "he loved meeting you and hearing your stories."
She describes her husband as the most honorable person she has ever met. Acknowledging that nothing could have prepared her family for his passing, she nonetheless promises to honor his legacy. Carter ends the tribute with a touching "I will love you always and forever." In the photo she posted with the tribute, the happy younger couple is picnicking on a riverfront, possibly in the D.C. area where they married, and near where they lived.
The work lives of the couple had often crossed over, as Carter has lent her voice to multiple roles in Bethesda games, especially in The Elder Scrolls series. From some voices of female Nords in Morrowind and Oblivion, to the voice of Azura in Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls Online. She also voiced the songstress Magnolia in Fallout 4, and specifically wrote and performed songs for the game.
James Altman, who works at ZeniMax Media and shared his own tribute to his father's passing, told readers of some life-lessons his father lived by. The first one is especially fitting: "Nothing in life is as important as family and friends. Nothing else actually matters." When focusing on everything going on in the gaming world, it can sometimes be hard to acknowledge the hardships that a family will face when a loved one passes. Hopefully, Lynda Carter and her children will be able to process their grief, and be willing to carry on Altman's legacy as they are able.
