After the PC version launched in December of 2020, update 1.5 of Stardew Valley is now live on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation.

The newest update for Stardew Valley has arrived on consoles. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the patch that would bring a new farm type, fresh game options, local co-op, and tons of surprises to the console version of the farming and life simulator. And although update 1.5 of Stardew Valley was originally planned to arrive at the end of January, it took a few extra weeks to get everything approved. But the wait is over and update 1.5 is now live on Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation.

Update 1.5 for Stardew Valley released on PC in December of 2020. Stardew Valley's one-man developer, Eric Barone (aka ConcernedApe) has since been working hard on the console version of the update as well. Via Twitter he let fans know that 1.5 is indeed live, and it is filled with tons of content.

The biggest change that fans will notice with update 1.5 of Stardew Valley is the new beach farm type. Along with being a beautiful sight to behold for a locale to live on and grow crops, the beach farm is great for ease of fishing, foraging opportunities, and more. Even rare items will sometimes wash up on the shores. There are some drawbacks, however, as the extremely useful sprinkler systems do not work in the sandy soil, which means a lot of manual watering is required.

Update 1.5 of Stardew Valley also comes with local split-screen co-op and new advanced gaming options. The update also gives players fresh experiences in the game. Players will notice new goals and quests, a community upgrade, character events, more home renovations, new furniture, and much more. Whether it is small changes like ducks being able to swim or being able to sit on a chair, or more significant additions like new people being added to the Stardew Valley town, update 1.5 is quite substantial.

Update 1.5 of Stardew Valley comes with secrets as well, and the community very much works together to uncover the mysteries. Even beyond the new music, the movable bed, or the fish tanks, update 1.5 has hidden fun to unravel.

As far as what is next for ConcernedApe, he is not yet sure if he will work on update 1.6. A sequel to Stardew Valley is still a possibility, but also ConcerenedApe is interested in working on a completely new project. There are a lot of possibilities as to where Stardew Valley can go next. But regardless, there is a lot of fun to be had right now as well.

Stardew Valley is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
