With Season of the Chosen, Destiny 2 brought many welcome changes and additions. The new Battlegrounds activity has players facing an onslaught of Cabal royalists and pillage their treasures. There are 3 Strikes to go after with one of them being brand new. Alongside the ritual playlists, Nightfalls have gotten 3 exclusive weapons with Grandmaster difficulty offering adept versions of them. There's no shortage of loot this season, yet another secret exotic item might be waiting for player down the line.
To be clear, this is separate from the exotic quests coming in Season of the Chosen. When Destiny 2 showcased Season 13 for the first time, it teased an ominous quest taking place on a Cabal ship that would lead to a Tex Mechanica weapon. That weapon is no longer a complete secret and is part of the current content slate.

This particular secret exotic's icon was found on a Beyond Light Deluxe Edition advertisement that popped up in the game. It showcases the expansion, and its accompanying seasons. So far, two seasons' worth of exotic weapons are known and those are present on the ad. But a masked exotic icon is tucked away in the corners, possibly teasing a weapon from later in the season or from next season.
The community has drawn several similarities between this mystery gun and existing Destiny 1 weapons, even though it could be a brand new gun. Firstly, the most popular theory is that this is referring to Super Good Advice. The icon looks relatively similar, and with Vault of Glass returning later in 2021, it would make sense for Super Good Advice to return as well since it ties to the raid lore-wise.
Secondly, keen eyed fan Unreadyer has pointed out that it looks identical to the icon of the Corrective Measure machine gun from the Vault of Glass raid. This machine gun was a legendary but Bungie has turned legendary weapons into exotics before so it wouldn't be out of the question. Still, it seems unlikely because raids are for the top end of the playerbase and the studio hasn't tied seasonal pursuits to a raid in a while.
All that said, this is more likely to be a placeholder image and Bungie just happened to use a Destiny 1 machine gun to represent exotics in general. Not only is it using the generic Destiny Tricorn symbol but also appears twice in the poster, further emphasizing that this icon just stands for completely unknown exotic weapons.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
