While World of Warcraft has recently received a massive update, the game's director admits raid gearing still needs adjustments.

In the World of Warcraft community, raiding is a major part of the end-game experience. Once players complete the quests, increase their level, and seek out a bigger challenge, only a raid can offer proper scaling. While World of Warcraft raids are a massive ordeal within the community, one consistent complaint is that gearing has not changed for several patches.

For a game as old and revered as World of Warcraft, the lack of a mechanic evolution is both expected and frustrating. Players hoped that with the newest World of Warcraft expansion that raid gearing would shift along with the level squish that fans had expected. Despite this hope, players logged in to find raiding the same as always, with the gear tables as static as they have always been.

When fans brought their questions to Twitter, Ion Hazzikostas, Game Director of World of Warcraft, took the time to answer. He explains that raid gearing is not changing due to the complications of loot tables being static. He agrees that gearing in raids in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands needs help, and it seems like gear sources are a concern that he is open to discussion on. While this only gives a general answer, it does reassure many World of Warcraft fans in the comments that a chance could be coming in the future. It is unlikely that it will make it into any nearby patch, but the possibility is now open for a better raiding experience later in development.

In the comments, many fans discuss various fixes that could help the World of Warcraft raid environment grow. One major complaint is the lock-outs specifically as they rely on RNG rather than giving players control over character progression. Fans argue that bonus rolls could fix the problem, but many are unsure if that is as far as it should go.

One major issue in World of Warcraft progression is that fans are putting in time and effort with very little in return. While the AP system offered players a way to always progress, it seems that now players are left in limbo without any direct paths to follow.

Gearing is a large part of the World of Warcraft experience, so the developers will most likely be taking a closer look into it. While there is no clear solution, fan comments do help development teams ponder the possibilities of different processes that could eventually end up within the MMO environment.

World of Warcraft is available on PC through the Blizzard launcher.
