Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone have a lot planned for the Valentine's Day weekend, giving the Warzone playlists some cute "love-themed" names, new store content, and the return of Kiss Confirmed in Cold War multiplayer, where defeated enemies drop candy hearts instead of dog tags. The final part of the weekend refresh for Black Ops Cold War is a Double Weapon XP event.
Over the last week fans still playing Modern Warfare noticed that in multiplayer their guns were not leveling up at all. The decision by Raven Software to go with a Double Weapon XP weekend could have been in response to that issue. Now that all guns should be receiving experience as intended, it is a good time to pick up a weapon that needs to be leveled up, perhaps one with the best iron sights in Warzone.

The Double Weapon XP event is now live, and will run until February 16 allowing players plenty of time to grind the last few levels of a weapon to get to the good attachments. The event will run alongside the Valentine's Day-themed playlist update for Black Ops Cold War, offering fans plenty of fun content for the weekend.
The more upbeat and fun events of this weekend will be a relief for fans frustrated by the rollout of the Black Ops Cold War League Play. The new ranked competitive mode launched this week, and it didn't take long for the COD community to critique the skill divisions, rulesets, and issues with hackers. Many fans seemed to be hoping for a return to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's League Play, and this system in place for Black Ops Cold War is not that. While the community might not be thrilled with the rollout, it is in its first week, so tweaks to the system are likely to come.
Also likely to come sometime in the near future is a new map for Warzone, if all of the Easter eggs and rumors are to be believed. Many fans are getting a little bored with the Verdansk map, and are waiting for a new experience. There have been hints in the game files that certain Black Ops Cold War multiplayer maps could in fact be portions of the new Warzone map.
Call of Duty in its current form is always a work in progress, so changes to League Play or a new Warzone map could be on the horizon. For now, hoping in and leveling up some weapons this weekend should sate the player base at least temporarily.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
