Ubisoft provides Assassin's Creed Valhalla fans with a quick update about the upcoming River Raid feature, set to release in February 2021.

Post-launch support outside basic bug fixes and the like has never been common for the Assassin's Creed franchise, with only a few games having a DLC or two. Assassin's Creed Odyssey somewhat changed this with a seasoned pass and a few additional post-launch pieces, but it seems the latest game, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, is intent on outdoing it.

Indeed, Ubisoft recently stated that AC Valhalla will get more support than even Odyssey, and fans are already seeing some of this. There's been a couple of general updates, as well as the Yule Festival, come to the game since it launched in November 2020, and now that continues with its upcoming update with River Raids.

Although the River Raids have been mentioned before and even set with a release in February 2021, it's understandable for fans to be concerned about the feature given the month is practically half way over. However, Ubisoft has since let out a small update that says "something is coming down the river" and that fans "best start preparing now." This expansion of sorts will unlock three new locations for players to conduct new River Raids in, locations full of loot like Gear, Silver, Runes, Books of Knowledge, and generally more of Assassin's Creed Valhalla's wealth.

While brief, this update at least lets players know the update is still coming soon; with February soon working on its latter half, this means fans can roughly expect it within the next two weeks. More exact details about this new feature are likely to come just before it as well, but one thing that fans may want to take note of is that the Assassin's Creed Valhalla River Raid update won't be alone.

In the comments, Ubisoft also stated that, "there'll be a Title Update as well." Ubisoft recently updated the known problems with Assassin's Creed Valhalla troubleshooting page, indicating that the company would have a slew of fixes lined up with the next title update. Once again, exact details are not known, but it stands to reason that many of the large, quest-blocking bugs may be resolved.

These bugs, while subject to sheer chance at time, range from side quests that can't be complete to story-blocking bugs to even something as odd as the bug that prevents players from finishing off the Order of the Ancients and reaping those rewards. More is also on the horizon as far as free-content updates go, as well as the Wrath of the Druids DLC set to release this Spring. Much remains to be seen, but while it's not in a perfect state, the continued support of Assassin's Creed Valhalla is likely welcomed by many.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
