Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch is looking to add to the team who are working on the team's next game, which also promises to be open-world.

Ghost of Tsushima developer, Sucker Punch is officially adding to its team. The company isn't looking to add onto staff who will work on the next Ghost of Tsushima update but will instead be working on the company's next project.

Last October, Sucker Punch first started hinting at what the firm's next project might be, a job listing set the next title would be set in feudal Japan. That's the same setting as Ghost of Tsushima. In January, another job listing had several fans of the game thinking a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima was officially on the way, as the advertisement said the ideal candidate needed to have experience with the game's "core combat systems."

While some people thought the listings might have been geared towards a PS5 upgrade/update for Ghost of Tsushima, the latest listing seems to prove this is a brand new game. The latest job listing very specifically mentions Sucker Punch's "next project." The position is for a senior writer and the company is looking for someone who is well versed in writing character-driven stories in an open world.

It's not clear whether this next Sucker Punch project is a sequel or another game in a similar world. However, one developer listed on his LinkedIn page that he was working on a Ghost of Tsushima game for the PS5. Not long after people started noticing the entry on the social media page, he took it down. So far, Sucker Punch hasn't commented on exactly what its next project is going to be. The company also hasn't made any mention of when gamers can expect it.

In the meantime, the development team has continued working on the original. Towards the later half of 2020, the game got a massive update that included the Legends game mode completely for free. This new content wasn't an addition to the single-player story, but instead added a new multiplayer mode that saw two players engage in an entirely different story with the ability to play as one of three different warrior classes. Not long after the Legends mode was added to the game, Sucker Punch added new content and updates, including different skins that could be equipped if players accomplished certain tasks.

After releasing this past summer to quite a bit of fanfare, Sucker Punch's most recent release garnered critical acclaim and wracked up a composite score of 83 on Metacritic. It also won a handful of awards toward the end of 2020. Those awards included Ghost of Tsushima garnering the Famitsu readers' Game of the Year.

Ghost of Tsushima is out now on PlayStation 4.
